Wooden glamping pod set in a tranquil location in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Equipped with a kingsize OR twin beds, solar lighting/power pack & outdoor seating area with optional firepit/bbq. Space for an additional bivvy & angler if required. (Bivvies & beds available to hire.) Showers, toilets & kitchen close by. Optional fishing. Hot and cold snacks, breakfast, lunches & dinner available from the onsite Carol's Kitchen food concession. Fully stocked tackle & bait shop onsite. Known as the Carper's Cabin, this fully insulated wooden glamping pod overlooks Rum Bridge Fisheries' Back (specimen carp) Lake, which in turn is home to mirror and common carp ranging from 20lbs-42lbs+. The exclusive bankside area includes two dedicated fishing swims allowing space for an additional tent or bivvy if required. (Sleeps-2 bivvies & beds are available to hire on request.) Fishing is available as an option, at £30/24hours. All guests have access to nearby showers and toilets, a dedicated sitting-out area and a small field kitchen with worktop, butler sink and hot and cold running water. Although, for security reasons, the gates are locked at dusk, guests can be provided with the gate lock combination, enabling you to come and go as you please. **IMPORTANT: please be aware that Rum Bridge is entirely ‘off-grid’, meaning the quality of lighting – both in the pods and tents, and site-wide - will vary with the prevailing conditions.** The onsite tackle shop is staffed seven days a week, from 8am - 6pm. Carol's Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and evening meals, and offers hot and cold snacks throughout the day. In the interests of security, the main gates are locked during the night, but guests will receive the entrance code, enabling you to come and go as you please. The hosts live onsite, and are available around the clock in case of emergency. Nestling on the banks of the River Stour, in the heart of the tranquil Suffolk countryside, Rum Bridge Fisheries is situated within easy driving distance of Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester, and the Suffolk coast. The market town of Clare is home to a wealth of shops, cafes, pubs and eateries, as well as a 13th century Augustinian Priory, Clare Country Park, the stone keep ruins of Clare Castle, a medieval church and museum. Rum Bridge is around 12 miles from the nearest train stations, and a 50-minute drive from Stansted airport. There is a limited local bus service. To make Rum Bridge as affordable as possible, we allow guests to book our accommodation only, and to supply their own bedding, towels, etc. We also offer an optional bedding package – including sheets, pillows, a duvet and cover – on request, at a cost of £6 / single, £12 / double for the duration of your stay. You may also wish to take advantage of the following options and extras, all of which are designed to make your break as relaxing and enjoyable as possible… **BBQ / firepit package** Guests who prefer to dine al fresco have the option either to bring their own camping stove, or to rent a fire pit with grill or bbq, which can be supplied with either logs and kindling or charcoal, tongs, skewers, matches, firelighters and even a bag of marshmallows, for just £22.95 for the duration of your stay. (Note: guests are not permitted to bring their own barbecues.) We also offer purpose-designed cook tents, which can be pitched next to your accommodation, and feature twin-burner gas stoves with grill, kettle, cookware, crockery and washing up bowl. Cost is £19.95 per night (minimum 2 nights). **BBQ food packs** Why waste a moment of your stay stalking the supermarket aisles, when you can have a mouth-watering barbecue pack – including a selection from; locally reared pork sausages, ribs, burgers, chicken, kebabs, rolls and salad – ready and waiting in your cool box? Cost is just £9.95 per person, and a vegetarian option is available on request. Why not add a chilled bottle of prosecco for just £9.95? **Double tent hire with beds** Expecting company? Our extra-large sleeps-two ‘high top’ bivvies with ultra-comfortable ‘wideboy’ beds are available to hire in advance of your stay. The £25 per night hire charge includes two additional guests. **Angling permits** Day-night permits are available to experienced carpers at a rate of £30 per night. Fishing on the popular Moat lake is also available at a cost of £10 per day. **Gazebo hire** Planning a family get-together? Communal gazebos are also available to hire, from just £50 per stay. Please note too that Rum Bridge is offgrid: the pod’s electricity supply is limited to solar lighting and device-charging, and is thus governed by the notoriously capricious English weather. So don’t be surprised to be issued with LED lamps in the heart of winter.
