Relax and enjoy the visiting wildlife at our comfortable, dog friendly retreat, in the Derbyshire countryside. Sky TV and WiFi included. Belper is a market town in the heart of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. It has a wealth of interesting and quirky independent shops,cafes and restaurants to suit all palates, many of which are dog friendly! It has a community that enjoys live music, real ales and good company, and has an abundance of pubs, micro-pubs and cocktail bars. Belper is perfectly placed as a base for visiting the Derbyshire Peak District and surrounding towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, The Matlocks and neighbouring attractions including Kedleston Hall, Chatsworth House , Crich Tramway Museum, Cromford, The Heights of Abraham and Carsington Water. Or discover the historic train lines at Ecclesbourne valley and Peak rail. And you are never far away from music and art! Look out for the arts and poetry trails, or experience a film at the local independent Ritz cinema, with tea and cake or a bottle of wine. There is a monthly farmers market, a summer and winter food, craft and ale festival…. and any excuse for a music festival. We have included a selection of books, games , DVDs and CD's for your entertainment. Our bedding is hypo-allergenic and wherever possible we use products that don't harm the environment, including chemical free cleaning and laundry products. We will be in the main property when you stay with us, but unless you need us, you will be undisturbed. It is after all your time to relax and get away from it all. However, please feel free to talk to us about anything you may need or are unsure of. The Garden Retreat is in the heart of the countryside which surrounds Belper. From the house there are walks that can take you into the hills passing several walker and dog friendly hostelries. Or take a route along the River Derwent into Belper itself. You really can leave the car behind. Belper is a five minute drive away or a 20 minute walk from the house. Derby is a 20 minute drive south. Belper has good transport links with regular trains, and buses, and is served by several taxi companies .
