Norfolk offers beaches, saltmarshes and quaint villages whilst equally as charming are the coast and countryside of Suffolk. Town: This small market town in Suffolk boasts half-timbered houses, sloping roofs and is home to the famous painter Thomas Gainsborough. Resting in the Stour Valley in an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty, the surrounding countryside of Sudbury is what inspired most of his paintings. Stroll along the River Stour or meander through The Croft and take the kids to feed the ducks. Only fifteen miles away is Colchester where you will discover Colchester Castle, Hollytrees Museum and Colchester Zoo. Sudbury is also not too far from the coast so why not take a day trip and explore the 350 miles of shoreline in Essex.
