The Milking Parlour is a brick built barn that used to be part of an old fashioned milking parlour. It has a vaulted roof and comprises two areas, a bedroom-lounge-kitchen studio and a shower-wet room. The kitchen has a fridge-freezer, microwave-grill combination oven and double induction hob. The wet room has a large walk-in shower, toilet, sink and mirror with de-mister and shave socket functions. Outside there is a patio area with table, chairs and chimenea. The BED is Kingsize. The maximum booking capacity is for 3, i.e. a small person could sleep on the sofa (e.g. 2 adults + 1 child). There is a daily surcharge for the third guest except for children under two years old. Please indicate that you are a party of three when you book in this case. (As an option you could double-book with our Tool Shed barn which is adjacent and has a double bed with ensuite shower room; this would be a suitable option if you are a party of 5 (e.g. 2+2 adults +1 child)). The spacious KITCHEN is equipped with a few essential utensils. pots and pans etc for basic catering, e.g. reheating take aways etc. During cold weather there is HEATING via one wall-mounted heater. This is most effective and efficient if kept permanently on, at a modest temperature and at high fan speed (as you will find it). In addition the bathroom is heated by towel radiators. There is wifi INTERNET. The smart TV permits terrestrial TV stations and internet stations such as BBC iPlayer. It also plays radio stations. You could watch Netflix or Amazon Prime if you have your own log-in. Currently we do not accept pets in this barn (however we do next door in The Tool Shed and this has its own gated patio area). If you are disabled please note that the drive is loose gravel and there are a couple of steps to access the barn. There are no hand rails in the shower-room. An anti-slip mat is provided for use in the shower. SIGNAGE At the bottom of the drive there is a sign 'MOORLAND FARM' KEYS On the left hand gate post as you first enter there is a key safe which will contain your keys. On the key ring are three keys: 1 x door, 2 x padlock keys for drive-gates. The two drive-gates are locked after dusk. PARKING After passing two sets of gates you may park outside the main farmhouse, facing the pond on a gravel drive. FARM Currently we are not permitting exploration of the farm and wildlife areas. Sorry. Ashleigh and I are usually out and about on our small farm and our farmhouse is next door should you need support. We are located just 7 miles from Lincoln city centre offering the best of both worlds – a quiet space out in the countryside yet close enough to the city for you to visit the city’s attractions. There are amenities such as pubs, shops, pharmacies, food take outs in two nearby villages, 2 and 3 miles away. The location is also great for walking and cycling. Getting to Lincoln city takes about 20minutes by car and getting to beaches takes about 1 hour. There are also the Lincolnshire Wolds to explore; perhaps Englands best kept secret? The Milking Parlour is within the curtelage of our small farm. It is very quiet, very rural and very beautiful in our opinion. Driving: An ordinary car will get you to our location. And it is the best way to get around here. Lincolnshire roads are less busy than many other parts of the country which makes for some nice motoring trips around Lincolnshire, especially the Wolds. Buses: The nearest bus stops are 2 miles away. Buses go to Lincoln city, Sleaford and some neighbouring villages. Train: The nearest stations are Lincoln and Metheringham. You will then need a taxi from these stations. Cycling and Walking. This is an excellent place to stay to undertake these activities. We can assist you with route planning. NB There is a disused railway near here which is a great way to cycle into Lincoln, or to take you out to villages and eventually to Sleaford. Chimenea: Please bring your own firewood, matches and firelighters. Use at your own risk. There are cushions for outside seating, they are kept under the bed.
