De La Terre: Farm Stay
Situated within the grounds of our 50 acre farm, we have many different animals including pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and geese. Included in your stay is access to our farm walk. You have your very own chickens located outside of the cottage where you can collect your fresh eggs from the coop each morning. (Note: currently unavailable due to covid-19 restrictions) Our accommodation: The cottage itself offers a fully equipped kitchen, with an electric hob and oven, a fridge with a small freezer, a kettle and a coffee machine. All crockery and utensils are provided along with basic cooking essentials. You will also have access to fresh herbs from the garden for any of your cooking or tea making needs. Upstairs, the welcoming bedroom offers a king size and a single bed. The clean and modern bathroom has a very large walk in shower. Towels are provided. You have access to a bbq and outside seating area and a selection of games for both inside and out. Our Farm: Included in your stay is access to our farm walk. The walk has been designed for our visitors to be able to see some of our animals, as well as being able to enjoy our tranquil setting whilst watching the wildlife. We have benches and picnic spots, viewing areas, and many wildlife habitats to protect and encourage our native wildlife to make our farm their home. You have your very own chickens located outside of the cottage for the duration of your stay, so you can collect your eggs fresh from the coop each morning. (only available between 1st April- 1st October) IMPORTANT: Due to Covid-19, there is currently no access into the animal parks. The animals can still be seen from our farm walk but you are unable to enter their parks to touch them. This includes access to the chickens so you will not be able to collect your own eggs. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. You will have private use of a very large front garden where you can sit, relax, have a BBQ and play games. Access to the farm walk is from the garden so you can take a wander around at your leisure to see the animals, enjoy the tranquil settings and watch the wildlife, or pack a picnic and enjoy lunch at the top of the hill looking over the forest. Please note: Our farm walk is 2km long, and lasts approximately 1 hour. If you would like to make the most of our fabulous walk, it is a good idea to bring comfortable shoes. (Wellies are a good idea in wet seasons) As we are farmers we are often working in the fields but we will be contactable by telephone. We are located on the outskirts of the village, 800m away from the village bakery where you can buy your bread and croissants fresh every day (except wednesday). The village also has a post office, bar and hairdressers. We are within the stunning Normandy Maine National Park, bordered by the forest, in an ideal location to access the GR22 (which passes directly through our village) and many other routes for walking, cycling and horse riding. We are on the border of Normandy and Mayenne, two areas of France with so much to offer. There are countless places to visit and things to do in the area including Chateaus and castles, rivers and lakes, animal parks and zoos, horse riding, canoeing and kayaking, the famous horse displays at La Michaudière, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, horse racing and much more. La Ferte Mace is less than a 20 minutes drive away and has a beautiful swimming lake where you can go fishing, hire bicycles to cycle around the lake, go paddle boarding, hire pedalos and enjoy an ice cream or crepe by the lake. There is also a golf course and a riding centre next to the lake and many large supermarkets, shops and great restaurants. Bagnoles de L’Orne, the famous Spa town is just 25 minutes away and has spas, a golf course, fantastic restaurants and gorgeous boutique shops, a cinema and a casino on the beautiful lake. Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei, voted the prettiest village in France is just 25 minutes away and we are also a very easy hours drive to Le Mans, great for if you want to attend the world famous 24 hour race or other events. There is a designated parking place for you on your arrival. Please note: Please bring comfortable shoes and/or Wellington boots to make the most out of your farm walk in comfort.
