Gale Cottage combines classic country charm with modern styling. The Cottage looks out over a landscaped courtyard affording privacy and a stunning view including a medieval church and Grade 1 Listed surroundings. Part of the Dorney Court Estate, the Cottage is a stone's throw from Dorney Lake (2012 Olympic Venue) and a short walk to Dorney's wonderful Walled Garden Centre with its delightful cafe perfect for breakfast or lunch during your stay. Two village pubs are also conveniently close by. Gale Cottage is part of the Grade 1 listed Dorney Court Estate which has been home to the Palmer Family for nearly 500 years. The accommodation is cosy and modern with bundles of heritage set in a tranquil corner of rural Buckinghamshire. Guests have access to a gorgeous landscaped courtyard. The 400 acre Eton Dorney Rowing Centre is next door (access is free) and the River Thames is just a short walk from the door. Guests are left to their own devices and afforded privacy but Dorney Court remains firmly a family home and anyone staying in Gale Cottage is likely to have some contact with other people living/working on the Estate. Dorney looks and feels like a classic English rural village with redbrick cottages, two friendly pubs (the Palmer Arms & the Pineapple) and sheep grazing the surrounding pastures. The Thames and picture postcard Windsor and Eton are within walking distance. Gastronomic Bray is across the river. Yet, Dorney is only 45 minutes from Central London a short drive from Heathrow. Gale Cottage serves as the perfect launch pad for Legoland (15 mins by car), Thorpe Park (20 mins by car) and Chessington World of Adventures (25 mins by car). Gale Cottage is situated in a convenient location for a number of long walks along the River Thames or the Jubilee River. A bicycle is a wonderful way to access the local area including Windsor, Maidenhead and Eton. Use of a car is recommended but Taplow station is two miles away, Windsor & Eton Riverside is three miles away and there are a number of local taxi firms. The cottage sits in a secluded location on the Dorney Court Estate neighboured by a 12th Century Church. There is a result Sunday service at 0930 with the church bells ringing for the 30 mins or so beforehand. The bell ringers practice on Monday nights from 7-9pm. Most people enjoy the sound and this quintessential slice of English village life but it is worth bearing in mind.
