Casa Joanna is situated in the charming traditional village of Vorno, famous for Royal families of the past who designed and built their summer villas in this tranquil, temperate village just south of Lucca (10 minutes drive) and north of Pisa Airport (30 minutes drive). Florence is 1 hour away. Chosen for its beauty, the views of the rolling Tuscan hills and the ever so slightly cooler temperature in the summer, Vorno became the home of some of the most amazing villas in Tuscany. Today the village has four restaurants, church and small cafe. There is a regular bus service into Lucca. Grocery shops are located approximately 7 minutes away in Guomo. Located within the walls of Villa Lucia, Casa Joanna has it's own private garden, separate entrance and parking. The school house was designed and constructed in a grand style well over a century ago. The 4 metre high ceilings on the piano terra give an open spacious feel to the rooms with a large chandeliers hanging from the brick-laid vaults. A terrace provide al fresco dining for guests, partly shaded by an old cherry tree and mulberry trees. The delightful garden of terracotta pots, fruit trees, local flowers and scented climbers of jasmine and honey suckle create a truly Tuscan feel. We have a vegetable patch where we grow organic tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, beans etc. These are available for you to hand pick for your use. The house can be rented out as one whole with 6 en-suite bedrooms or two separate houses with their own staircases and 3 en-suite bedrooms. The pool is salt water and exclusive for a six bedroom rental. It can be heated upon request. We have air conditioning in all bedrooms. We are lucky to have spring water from our taps. Casa Joanna is full of art, books and games. The kitchens are well equipped. There is fibre optic broadband wi-fi available and amazon TV. Sleepeezee mattress made from natural fabrics (wool and cashmere) provide the ultimate sleep experience, providing coolness in summer and warmth in winter. The sheets are 400 cotton percale.
