Summerhouse with seaview and 40 meters coastline, beach, jetty, and property with hills, forest, outdoor sitting groups and viewpoints. Porch with heat-lamp. The summerhouse is situated on the car-free island of Veierland, an exclusive island and hidden gem in the Oslo-fjord, facing Roald Dahl's childhood island of Tjomoe (Tjøme). There is a 19 feet boat with 25 horsepower included that you can use to and from the mainland. There is also a big ferry that departs every hour from the mainland. INCLUDED IN THE PRICES IS UNLIMITED USE OF MOTOR BOAT, KAYAK AND LASER SAILING BOAT. The private boat has its own private place in the yacht club at Tenvik. Tenvik harbour is the southernmost place on the Nøtterøy peninsula. This is connected with a bridge to the city of Tønsberg and Tenvis only a 15 minute drive from Tønsberg. There is a big parking lot for cars at Tenvik and one can drive all the way to the boat. Tenvik is the closest place on the mainland to Veierland and it is also from here the ferry departs every hour. This is the 19 feet boat of the brand Terhi Nordic, 4,6 meters long and 1,9 meters wide, with steering console: (Website hidden by Airbnb) This is the 25 horsepower outboard motor of the brand Tohatsu: (Website hidden by Airbnb) On the property itself we have a tandem kayak for paddling with space for two people (twin-kayak) that is free to use, very solid and stable, with space for luggage and with three different types of paddle oars. We also have a Laser class sailing boat (dinghy) that is free to use: (Website hidden by Airbnb) We have numerous sunbeds, outdoor chairs, outdoor sofa groups with cushions and boxes for the cushions and pillows. We have fishing equipment, both fishing rods, fishing lines, hooks and crab- and lobster traps. There is heating system with radiators that you can adjust the temperature of and a fire place in the living room. There is plenty of wood for the fire place. Please note that this is our back to nature retreat. This is where we enjoy the simple life away from the comfort and luxury of the cities. Apart from the sea, sun, nature, beach, fish in the water, mushrooms in the forest and proximity to the sea there is no luxury. It is a modest house built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) It is renovated but still very primitive. There is no running water inside the house. There is running cold water going all the way to the veranda/ terrace by the kitchen. This is fresh water of very high quality that is perfectly drinkable (it is from the famous Farris source by the Farris lake in Larvik, Norway). It is easy to heat up water for cooking, hot drinks, washing up etc using the kettle and oven. Because there is no running water inside the house, there is no washing machine for clothes and no dish washer. For this reason we normally use paper plates, paper cups and plastic cutlery to minimise washing, but the house is fully equipped with normal porcelain plates, porcelain bowls, metal cutlery, tea and coffee cups, water glasses, wine, glasses and champagne glasses. There is only a small movable stove (oven) with 2 plates and an oven for steaking bread, fish and meat because we like to cook outside. So in nice weather we take the stove with us outside and use a long extension cord for the socket so we can take the oven both to the sofa sitting groups on the upper level and also by the sea and on the jetty. We also have a normal and easily movable grill using charcoal for barbecue. There is a small fridge inside the house and a big fridge in the outhouse/ annex with lots of space. There is also a big freezer in the outhouse with lots of space. Here one can for example freeze down the fish one catches. Because there is no running water inside the house, there is no washing machine for clothes. For this reason we ask guests to bring their own towels, bed linen, bed sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases, if this is possible. The house has plenty of duvets and pillows. There are two small bedrooms with double beds in each. There is a sleeping sofa in the smallest living room, and there are extra double mattresses and inflatable mattresses if one needs to put in the biggest living room. We wash clothes by hand when needed and there is washing powder for hand wash and many washing barrel/ buckets. There are separate washing barrels for clothing and dishes, cutlery, glass and kitchenware. There is no indoor shower, but an outdoor shower with cold water that is connected to the water that goes to the terrace/ porch by the kitchen. There is no normal toilet with flush/ loo/ bathroom/ but an outdoor toilet in the outhouse. Before you book the house please confirm that you are aware of the conditions and simplicity: No hot water, no water inside, no indoor shower, please bring your own towels and bed linen, no washing machine, no dishwasher, no toilet with flush. There is beautiful nature, proximity to the sea, great climate, forests and walks, but this place is for people enjoying the simple life by the sea and in the nature without great material luxury. The island is called Veierland. It has 2 restaurants/ cafes, a post office, a tennis court, mini-golf, a small football pitch, a 6 hole golf course, a big playground for kids, a big network of paths and roads and a few public beaches. There is a baker that makes bread thursday night ready to be picked up friday morning and a farmer/ gardener that weekly sells eggs, vegetables, fruit, mushrooms and other home made products. In the summer there are sometimes concerts and events at the local cafe called "Dagros" at the centre of the island. There are around 150 people living permanently on the island all year round in around 60 houses. In addition there are around 450 summer houses and the island is a popular summer destination. But there is enough space for everyone, considerable distance between all the houses and everyone has their own privacy, particularly around our part of the island. Cars are not allowed on the island, only one taxi driver has permission to drive. The roads are narrow dirt roads/ dirt tracks, and most people commute by bicycle, foot and wheel barrows. The ferry is big enough to include vehicles, bicycles etc. and sometimes it carries vehicles for the local farmers etc. Here is more information about Veierland and the area: (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) (Website hidden by Airbnb) We have a 19 feet boat with 25 horsepower that you can borrow for free and use to and from the mainland. There is also a big ferry that departs every hour from the mainland. The ferry departs from Tenvik close to Tønsberg and from Engø close to Sandefjord. You get off at Vestgården and have to walk 20 minutes to get to the summerhouse. Or take our private boat that takes you straight to the jetty and summerhouse. There are no life jackets in the boat, but plenty of life jackets in the house. The boatride from Tenvik to the house takes 5-10 minutes and is fairly easy. Wearing a life jacket while in a boat is mandatory in Norway. To get to the place by public transport from Oslo: Train to Tonsberg/ Tønsberg and there should be correspoding bus from the train station or nearby bus station to TENVIK. To find the ferry times from Tenvik to Vestgården on Veierland please search for Jutøya and the times will appear. The ferry for Veierland departs every hour or so. (Website hidden by Airbnb) If you are driving: The car park at Tenvik is payable and cost around 120 kroners per night, you can pay with an "Easypark" app and stop the payment when you leave if you leave earlier than expected. The parking staff will fine you if you don't pay and they are very eager. There is no supermarket/ food shops/ groceries at the island, just two cafes that might be shut in weekdays. So you should buy food before you arrive at Tenvik. The closest place to buy food with car is the "Rema (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) " shop at Borgheim, Nøtterøy. It is on the way from Tønsberg to Tenvik, on the left hand side, over half the way between Tønsberg and Tenvik. I would therefore recommend to buy food at Rema (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) at Borgheim, Nøtterøy, it is just 10 minutes before Tenvik so the food will stay chilled untill you arrival at the house. (Website hidden by Airbnb) The address: Rema (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Semsveien (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) NØTTERØY If you want to use the boat for more than get back and forth between the island and the mainland and want to go on boat trips you can also buy more petrol for the boat at the yacht marina at kjøpmannskjær/ KJOEPMANNSKJAER, just a 10 minute boat ride from both Tenvik and the house. This yacht club/ marine is called VRENGEN MARINA (Website hidden by Airbnb) The address: Ferjeodden 14, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Tjøme Opposite the yacht marina there is also a supermarket where you can food by boat or car. There is a jetty for boats there so you can take the boat direct from the house to the supermarket if you like, but perhaps better to buy food before your arrival in case you don’t get the boat starting and don’t want to waste time food shopping while there: (Website hidden by Airbnb) The address: Kiwi Kirkeveien (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) KJØPMANNSKJÆR The cleaning staff on the island needs very long notice if they are to clean, so the house might not be cleaned unless we get very long notice. The cleaning staff might also not be available even if you give us long notice, so please take this into account before booking. The cleaning fee you pay for is therefore never for the cleaning, but a fee you pay to use the boats etc. If you are going to take the ferry and not use our boats please let us know and we will cut "the cleaning fee". Once again, it is important for us to know that you have been warned about the cottage being half rotten, not renovated, old and very primitive with simple outdoor toilet without water etc. There might be spiderweb and ants inside the house, and mice in the outhouse where the toilet is, but mice have never occurred inside the main house. Expect nothing and you might not get disappointed ;-) But a great property close to the sea and very nice with its own jetty, pebbled beach, sitting groups etc. So what you pay for is the property and outdoor areas, not the cottage itself ;-) Because the place is old there might be smell when you first enter inside the house, but this will disappear if you open the windows and air for 2 minutes. Because of the smell we don't keen basis food stuff in the house. This means you will need to bring basic food like salt, pepper, olive oil, herbs, flour, sugar, coffee, tea etc. Depending on the previous guests you might also need to bring your own toilet paper and kitchen paper. The barbecue/ grill is very old and the grate might be rusty so you might need aluminum foil when grilling. There might not be charcoal for the barbecue left, in which case you can use wood that there should be plenty of. There is no big coffee machine there, just a manual cafetiere. The fishing equipment might be old and rusty and partly damaged so if you are really into fishing you should bring your own in case it does not work. There is an outdoor shower that you can fix to the water faucet, but you might need to fix this shower yourself. You will find it in the outhouse. When you arrive you might find all the furniture made of fabric and wood inside the living room. Including the pillows for the outdoor lounge/ sitting group. The white pillows go into the white pillow boxes behind the rotting sofa. Please organise the furniture as you like, but great if you put it back into the house when you leave to protect if from rain, humidity, dust etc.
