Our beautiful farm is set in the green and peaceful Vallée de la Course in Northern France. Guest accommodation is on the first floor of our farmhouse - there are two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a chill out area on the landing with a sofa bed which can accommodate one more person. Our bedroom is on the ground floor along with the communal kitchen, living room and dining room in which we serve breakfast. Make yourselves at home and cosy up next to our large wood burning stove. La Ferme de Coupigny is a 'ferme au carrée' set around a grass courtyard with a large weeping willow in the middle. The back of the farm is mainly set to pasture with a young cider apple orchard - a great place to sit by the campfire and watch the sun set. The front of the farm was a large 'potager' which we are restoring. We also have a small flock of rare breed chickens who lay fresh eggs for us every day. Tom my husband has also built a natural cob oven at the entrance of the courtyard which we have the pleasure of using to cook homemade pizzas amongst other things! We really want to share our experience here with our guests so make yourselves at home, feel free to explore and even help out if you wish. We work some of the time but at least one of us will generally be around to talk to you about the farm, give you advice on things to do in the area and hang out should you be up for it. There are loads of nice walks and cycle routes nearby which take in the green countryside and woods as well as the local artisanal chocolate factory - la Chocolaterie de Beussent, watercress farm, fishing lakes, the river Course and an old-school village café in Enquin. The nearby medieval town of Montreuil-sur-mer has gourmet restaurants and a good choice of bars - Le Douglas is well stocked with a large selection of Belgian beers! The walk that goes around the whole town on top of the old fortified walls is a must do and Saturday mornings there is a pretty good market on the main square - we go there to get fresh fish from the nearby coast, organic veg that our friend Pierre grows in his local market garden, freshly ground coffee or beans from Steph, local honey and delicious sourdough bread from the bakery 'Au gré des blés'! There are nice beaches to be discovered only 20mins drive from here. And slightly further afield, la Réserve Naturelle de la Baie de Somme which includes the Parc du Marquenterre famous for its bird sanctuary and ideal for horse riding in the dunes. Also in the area is the Michelin starred restaurant La Grenouillere. It's easier to get here and explore the area if you have a car - we have plenty of parking space in front of the house. If you'd like to come stay but don't have a car please let us know as we may be able to pick you up from Calais for a more reasonable price than local taxis... We provide bedding but no towels so please bring your own. Being in Northern France the weather is fairly similar to Southern England so it's worth bringing wellies and some warm/waterproof clothing.
