The Stables at Hempnall House.

Built around 1870 The Stables at Hempnall House is a luxurious two bedroom property surrounded by gardens, woods and fields yet only 20 minutes drive from central Norwich, the capital of East Anglia with a wide variety of amenities, shops and entertainment. Converted in 2018 The Stables has two bedrooms, a bathroom and separate shower room. High quality fittings have been used throughout whilst the original beams and stable doors lend a touch of authentic charm. Either the terrace, overlooking our private wood, or the sofa in front of the wood burner (unlimited logs are included), are the perfect places to relax and take in the view. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, small oven and microwave, fridge and a full sized dishwasher. There is an abundance of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. Why not invite your friends to dinner, the dining table seats six (or eight)! Our chickens provide a point of interest and sometimes even eggs. Children are encouraged to see if there are any. There is a gas barbecue available for your use. Hosts Kate and Colin live on site but you'll be the only people in the stables. They enjoy meeting guests and sharing their country home and grounds. We have parking for two cars outside The Stables, and adequate broadband. Secure cycle storage is available The Stables are yours to enjoy and you are welcome to walk round the grounds and our woods. It's usually possible to have a campfire in the woods, we did on Christmas Day last year. Toasting marshmallows in the dark while listening to the owls has proved popular, especially with children (and adults of all ages). The Stables are next to our home and we are generally around to greet you and provide assistance if required A bridle path leads directly from the property to Hempnall, about a mile away, where there is a butcher and delicatessen, a well stocked shop, newsagent and post office (open, amazingly from 6am to 9pm seven days a week) and a petrol station. An artisan baker offers a selection of loaves every Saturday, ask for details. There is a popular community bar in the Old Mill which opens every Friday and Saturday evening. The Three Horseshoes public house, ten minutes walk away, is well known for its Sunday lunchtime carvery. The local Indian restaurant delivers, minimum spend £20 A bus goes from there to Norwich or Harleston several times a day which opens up many opportunities for non-circular walks without using a car. The roads around are great for cycling. Hempnall House is 15 minutes from the edge of Norwich, a delightful, compact city with masses to see and do. It is also a convenient base for touring Norfolk and Suffolk. Our stables are adjacent to our house but separate from it. They have their own entrance and are completely self contained. We have recently had some Corona Virus related cancellations but also some new bookings from people unable to go abroad. We do not expect to stop welcoming guests, even if they choose not to meet us, unless forced to. All linen is professionally laundered. If you book and later decide to cancel we will understand but we feel that if people need a break we are not exacerbating the situation by remaining open
