‘The Little House’ is a traditional terraced stone millworker’s cottage on the edge of New Mills, on the way to Hayfield village, Kinder Scout, and generally known as the Gateway to The Peaks. New Mills offers a full range of amenities to ensure your stay is comfortable and convenient, as well as preserving a wealth of local heritage and traditions of the area. The house is pleasantly decorated and traditionally furnished, with a wood burning stove as well as gas central heating. Spacious rooms, comfortably accommodating four and a baby, offering all the comforts you will want after busy days exploring the local area in all seasons or simply relaxing ‘at home’. Close proximity to all local amenities, including friendly hostelries and cafés where you are sure to receive a warm welcome. Well equipped kitchen with a welcome pack provided to make you feel at home. The entire house is available for your use and comfort as well as the rear terrace garden with rural views, making BBQs a great option for summer days. I chose to retire to this area after many years living and working in the South East. The natural unspoilt beauty of the area is unrivalled and there is an abundance of interesting heritage to explore. I enjoy The Peaks in all seasons and moods and invite you to do likewise! You will probably come by car which will also make exploring the wider area easier. There is an excellent local rail network and frequent service, with many trains travelling through New Mills. Bring your walking boots to enjoy some amazing walks and raw beauty and of course a bicycle if you are super fit to cope with the hills! Lyme Park NT (of Pride and Prejudice fame) is ten minutes drive away on the A6 towards Disley, and Buxton, an original Spa town provides reminders of former elegance and gracious living. The incredible countryside needs no embellishment, with an abundance of graded walks suitable in all seasons. Manchester is only a short drive or train journey away with a wealth of museums, art galleries, cosmopolitan eateries and retail opportunities..... as well as two great football teams!
