With love and respect to the nature and the character of our island we made our rooms, "Zacharoula" or "Sugary rooms". Magganitis our village is an amazing place with breathtaking and safe beaches and nature. Every summer, from May until September, more than 100 traditional "fiestas" take place at Ikaria. Fiestas take place at openair places. Dancing folk dances, eating traditional food and drinking local wine, promise a great experience. With love and respect to the nature and the character of our island we made our rooms, "Zacharoula" or "Sugary rooms". Ikaria island is unique among greek islands. Ikaria is named for Icarus, son of Daedalus, the legendary architect of King Minos’ Cretan labyrinth. When the two tried to escape from Minos’ prison on wings of wax, Icarus ignored his father’s warning, flew too close to the sun and crashed into the sea, creating Ikaria – a rocky reminder of the dangers of overweening ambition. Greek myth also honours Ikaria as the birthplace of Dionysos, god of wine and joy. Magganitis our village is also an amazing place with breathtaking beaches and nature. The thousands Menhirs of the area at this full green landscape with olive trees, figs, pinetrees and holm oaks, give the village its unique character. Coming from Evdilos port towards Magganitis, a tunel leads you to our village and by the time visitors see it realise it worthed to visit. Natural springs, trecking and walking paths, flowers , forests and wonderful beaches were used at the canvas of Magganitis. The crystal clear blue and green water of the beaches attract you and literally makes you forget about everything. The beaches of Magganitis, are among the safest and calmest of the island. With our Ikarian spirit can help you to explore most of the beauties of the island and be sure will do our best on it. Every summer, from May until September, more than 100 traditional "fiestas" take place at Ikaria. Fiestas take place at openair places. Dancing folk dances, eating traditional food and drinking local wine, promise a great experience. Also from Magganitis you can take daily tours by boat to near by virgin beaches. You can depart early in the morning and return back at the afternoon. Our rooms, now, are five, individual rooms, totally harmonic at our village's spirit. Relaxing at the balcony or the yard you can enjoy your coffee or wine with view towards the sea,the mountain or the village. Also there are many car rentals where you can rent a car or a scooter to our place. Due to the change of the host we lost all of our reviews! All of them were more than positive, so now we attach them below and of course you can experience our hospitality and quality by your selves! Olga Σεπτέμβριος 2017 Stella was like our second mother! She was so kind and hospitable! We definitely recommend staying at her bnb! Btw the place is called Zacharoula rooms (for some reason the airnbn directions were totally off and didn't mention the exact name of the place). Το προφίλ του/της Elyse Elyse Ιούνιος 2017 The house was really nice and Stella was really really gentle and took care of me in these few days and helped me access to other places as I don't have a car, I had totally no trouble in staying here and have met so many nice people! Ikaria is a wonderful natural island and I highly recommend it for travelers who are looking for an original and relaxing trip to visit! Το προφίλ του/της Liron Liron Οκτώβριος 2016 Everything about our stay at Zacharula Rooms was perfect. The communication with Thania before arrival, getting there at a late check in and of course, the wonderful care of Stella! She and her daughter gave us tips and directions to everything :) even though we came at the end of the season, there's still a lot to do and see and best of all- Magganitis is the perfect place to relax.. As for the room- has everything you need, very clean and comfortable, extremely private. If you need anything else- just ask Stella and she probably has the solution. Very much recommended, enjoyed every minute of our stay and would definitely come back! Το προφίλ του/της Mia Mia Αύγουστος 2016 Absolutely incredible AirBnB - one of the best I have stayed in. So well-appointed and clean. Marble floors and an awesome kitchen which felt like being on Tatooine since it is built right into the giant boulders of Magganitis. The rooms sit at the top of a large hill, so you have to walk (or drive) up, but you will be rewarded with an incredible view over the Aegean Sea and a nice relaxing breeze from the olive trees. I wish we could have stayed here for much, much longer. We will definitely be back. Το προφίλ του/της Aliki Aliki Αύγουστος 2016 Griechische bzw. ikariotische Gastfreundschaft in Reinkultur, herzliches Willkommen, liebevoll gestaltete Zimmer, familiäre Atmosphäre... der Abschied fiel uns schwer. Vielen Dank an Stella und Stefano, Eleni und Lefteri!!! Adrie Αύγουστος 2016 Zeer vriendelijke verhuurder. Anita og Jacob Το προφίλ του/της Maria Maria Ιούνιος 2016 Stella is an amazing host, so kind and caretaking. This hospitality comes from her heart, you could feel it. Big and beautiful traditional house. The rooms are exactly like on the pictures. The furniture is wooden - there was no any cheap plastic piece in my room - the linen and towels are crisp white. The welcome cake was so good that I decided to quit my gluten free diet for a few days. ;-) Small but nice beach, that can be reached by foot, around 1,5km, a very good daily workout (after the cake!) I loved the village too, friendly and relaxed people. Try taverna Apostolis (not far from the house), where they cook traditional food with all the ingredients coming from their own organic farm. Το προφίλ του/της Isabel Isabel Μάιος 2016 We had a lovely time staying at Zacharula rooms in Magganitis. Stella was generous and accommodating and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a very relaxing holiday at her home. Το προφίλ του/της Crist Crist Νοέμβριος 2015 Very responsive host, especially fast and helpful considering this was a last minute reservation request. Assistant at property was super friendly and helpful, and generously brought cookies and fruit since most of the village was closed due to November post-season timing. Room was comfortable and clean, with excellent view of sea. Το προφίλ του/της Maximilien Maximilien Σεπτέμβριος 2015 What a stay in Ikaria!! The studios are very clean and have their own terrasse. We had fresh figs from the tree and delicious homemade cake! Manganitis is a very calm and peaceful place. Better rent a car to discover the island! Rhys Σεπτέμβριος 2015 The room was very tidy, and the perfect size and facilities for 2 or even 3 people to stay comfortably. The location was very nice, Maganitis is a quiet little village on the South of Ikaria, which makes it the perfect little getaway location, but still close enough to some incredible beaches. The host was a lovely lady who was always bringing up fresh figs from her garden in the mornings and always offerred to make me coffee in the mornings. She had a wealth of knowledge about Ikaria that she was very eager to share with me. I had a very positive experience staying here and I would not think twice about coming back next time I am in Ikaria! Το προφίλ του/της David David Αύγουστος 2015 We had a wonderful time in Ikaria at this cool little home. We felt very welcome and genuinely engaged with the hosts. This was a real highlight of our stay in Greece and we loved the laid back atmosphere of the small seaside village of Maganitis. It's a true treasure. It's a small village with only 4 small tavernas but with excellent food. The village caters mainly to Greeks and there were very few international tourists. This was a really excellent local experience. The recommendations of beaches was very good - we loved the local Maganitis beach very much and spent a lot of our time there - preferring it to the Seychelles beach. So if you like a really authentic Greek Island experience then this clean little home is an ideal choice - highly recommended. And the hospitality just has to be experienced to be believed. Το προφίλ του/της Esther Esther Ιούλιος 2015 Our trip started perfectly by a preorganized taxi pick up from the port because we were traveling without a car. The trip through the mountains of ikaria was breathtaking. We were welcomed in maganitis on the seaside on the other side of the island with a freshly baked cake, some omelet and a waterlemon. The house is located a little bit over the village with a absolutely beautiful view! On foot it takes only 5 minutes to the little village and the port. The apartment is furnished with lots of love and a talent for details. It's very clean and the landlord stella cares a lot for the needs of her guests. She's available for any kind of information and really wants to have her guests to have a great time. In our case it felt almost like being part of the family. But we never had the feeling that this was expected. We would recommend this place to everybody who likes a quiet place with wonderful beaches and people. If you want to get to know the real island life, this is the right place for it. During the summer there are a lot if festivals- during our 4 nights stay we attended 2 different festivals with authentic greek music and dancing. On foot you can discover a lot of things, but to travel the island more thoroughly you'll need a car. And if you have special needs you should prepare beforehand because the supermarket is limited. It's a simple but rich live. We'll be back! Το προφίλ του/της Yan Yan Ιούλιος 2015 Unique hospitality experience in a beautiful and quiet place. Zacharoula's room was definitely our favorite place to stay in Ikaria... Thanks to a wide sea view you can enjoy all the different lights of the day and the moon on the sea... Magganitis is a very quiet and authentic village with enough nice places to eat and drink or buy food, without being a busy touristic place. Ideal to enjoy a peaceful vacation. A lovely small harbour and two beautiful and calm small beaches. This south part of the island was our favorite one. Our host Stella surprised us with her amazing hospitality, very attentive to be sure we'd feel well. She fixed a wonderful room, with very good taste, which is quiet rare. We felt like in a traditional islands' house with full comfort. Old islandish pieces of furmitures, ( brodés )bed sheets. Small attentions were a precious bonus (like local handmade soaps, nice shampoos...) and made us feel so welcomed. Besides, in an old traditional oven we had a nice small kitchen with all we needed to cook. It led up have so nice breakfasts on the small terrasse... And the trees surrounding the house make it really special. The place is made for good walkers though as you will need to climb quite a steep road for about 1.5 km to reach the house from the sea. The hostess is however always ready to take you with her car should you find it difficult if you're just lazy! To get there, you can either rent a car at the airport or ask the host to organize a taxi waiting for you at the airport (at your own expense). Make sure you have cash with you. Το προφίλ του/της Itamar Itamar Ιούνιος 2015 Although the village of Magganitis is less visited than other villages in Ikaria, our stay at Stella's place ended up being the highlight of our trip. It's a perfect holiday spot in Ikaria! the rooms are absolutely gorgeous: spotless, great views, beautifully decorated, have everything you need, and in a standard well above what we saw in other parts of the Island. The place is surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with fruit trees, vegetables and flowers, and even the relaxing sound of a small stream nearby. Stella, our wonderful hostess made us feel at home right from the start. She was extremely helpful with advice and recommendations for the area, and made sure we had everything we needed. The house is only a 5 minute drive from the most beautiful beach we have ever seen (Seychelles) and there are several nice tavernas in the village. A 2 minute drive down an extremely steep hill brings you to the picturesque port of Magganistis, where there is also a nice taverna. We highly recommend this place and we will definitely return! We came to Magganitis for a holiday, and we feel like we found a new friend! Efxaristoume poly Stella!
