Spacious barn conversion in North Yorkshire
Single storey barn conversion in beautiful North Yorkshire on the edge of the North York Moors just outside Cpt Cook village. Modern, comfortable, self-contained. Walking and tourist area. Market town of Stokesley 2 miles away, accessible by car, bicycle or via footpath The whole cottage and the field and river behind the cottage. Approximately a one mile walk into the village of Great Ayton. Guests are responsible for their own and their children's safety at all times. On request guests may use the host's garden and terrace area The host is available either in person or via telephone throughout the stay - details are on a notice board in the cottage Great Ayton is where Captain Cook went to school (visit the schoolroom museum) and worked (Aireyhome Farm). There are a two pubs; Joplin's restaurant; Stamps and other coffee shops; Beauty Salons - all worth a visit. It also has a Co-op, chemist, newsagent, hairdressers and hardware store. There are Anglican, Catholic and Methodist churches in the village. Stokesley, two miles away, is a market town: market day is every Friday with a Farmer's Market on the first Saturday of the month. Lots of coffee shops, restaurants, takeaways (Chinese, pizza and fish and chips) and pubs to visit. There is also a large and a small Co-op, a chemist and several hairdressers with a garden centre a short walk outside the town There is footpath between Great Ayton and Stokesley which guests can join by walking a short distance west along the main road, then along to Angrove Country Park where you can grab a coffee, a late breakfast, lunch or dinner before walking on to the town or the village; otherwise bike, car or taxi. To either. There is a bus request stop at the entrance to Angrove Country Park which is worth a try but no guarantee that the bus will stop to pick you up. Getting back is easier - they are obliged to stop to let you off. From Stokesley you can catch the Moors Bus to go to outlying villages in North Yorkshire and a bus to Middlesbrough or Redcar and places in between. Limited service on Saturdays and none on Sundays We have one remaining rescue hen and a cockerel. During unsocial hours they are in their home behind the cottage. There should be no disturbance from the cockerel as the cottage bedrooms face the front of the property. Our cat Molly is likely to come into the cottage if there is a door or window open - she is very friendly
