Two comfortable double rooms in Edwardian family home in the historic Roman town of St Albans, Hertfordshire, 20 miles north of London. Located 5 minutes from the famous St Albans Cathedral & Clocktower with a vibrant town centre with market, historic pubs, coffee shops and restaurants. Train journey (18 mins) to Central London/Eurostar, 12 -15 minutes walk to central station. Motorways: M1 10mins, M25 21a 10-15 minutes. Luton & Gatwick Airports easily accessible. All guests are welcome whether from other parts of the UK on business/leisure or international guests looking for an easy commute to London and beyond or visiting family or friends. St Albans is named after the 1st English Saint from the time of the 3rd Century and has a interesting history. A Roman Town which used to house a Benedictine Abbey it has a museum, amphitheatre and hypocaust from Roman Times. Our house is Edwardian and has original features. We have two quiet rooms near each other, both face the back of the property and are well appointed with double beds with comfortable mattresses, 100% cotton sheets, comfortable pillows & duvet with additional covers available. Towels are provided. Tea, coffee (organic & decaffeinated), chocolate, milk, water and biscuits are provided and refreshed daily. Smart TV provided and the bookcase is stocked including guide books about the area and London. Desk space is available on request and reliable/quick wi-fi on. When hot our guests tell us they appreciate our cooling fans in the rooms! Shared lounge and work desk available on request. Washing machine/dryer/iron and use of fridge and freezer available on request. Front door and room keys are available on arrival. You will be able to lock your door (if you want to) and come and go as you please. I work from home so around and available to meet, greet and help guests on arrival. If you need anything then please ask! I have lived in the area for many years and can advise on the best restaurants/pubs and travelling locally or into London. Very familiar with London sightseeing - can help you plan trips out and can advise on train/bus times. The house is located in the Conservation Area of St Albans near to the Abbey, clock tower, main shops & market, Verulam Park & Lake and famous local pubs e.g. the Fighting Cocks, & The Six Bells. The local sports centre is c. 15 minutes walk away including pool, gym and other amenities and the park is available for walkers and runners. The 1930s style famous Odyssey Cinema is 10 minutes walk showing a variety of films daily - worth a visit! Harry Potter Studios are 15 mins drive away. St Albans is a very safe city and our property is very safe and secure. We are located in the centre of St Albans - so everything is easily walkable. Taxis/Ubers are easily available, there are buses from the centre going to all local towns including the University of Hertfordshire and Galleria Shopping Centre in Hatfield. Rail and motorway links are very good - Luton Airport is easily accessible on the train (15 minutes), Gatwick Airport only 68 minutes away by train and Heathrow Airport accessible by train, car or bus (approx 1.25 hours away). Although we are in the Conservation Area with restricted parking, parking vouchers are available from us for £2/day and usually street parking places can easily be found. . If you require off street parking, there are several very local car parks available. Harry Potter Studios (Warner Bros) is approx 20 mins journey away by road.
