At about 30 mins. drive (without traffic issues) you will find historical places which are worth a visit. Examples are:Voorbeelden: the Abbey of Le Bec-Hellouin at 18 km; the beautiful castles of a.o. Harcourt at 25 km, Beaumesnil at 30 km and Castle Champs-de-Bataille in Le Neubourg at 32 km. The allied 2nd world-war landing beaches of D-Day and the Memorials as in the cities of Caen, Arromanches, St. Mer-Eglise (the paraglider hanging on the church tower), Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach etc. (1,4 uur rijden) are more than worth a visit. Disneyland and Paris at a distance (by railway via Gare St.Lazare (1 hr,30 mins) of about 1,4 uur drive. Beaches may be found in the well known cities/villages of Deauville, Trouville, Houlgate en Villers sur Mer Recreation lake having various watersports and renting out facilities near Brionne (15 km). Open-air swimming pool in St. George-du-Vievre (8 km), but also in Deauville with its special olympiquw saltwater pool. The Cerza-Zoo near Hermival-les-Vaux (Lisieux) which is close to is worth a visit with children. The historical town of Bernay (Edith Piaf one of France's famous lady singers lived here) with very nice antique shops, shows the charme of Normandy and Pont Audemer (15 km) also known as Venice of the north, incl. canooing possibilities and the special large market on mondays. For golfers (and those who admire nature) there are beautiful 18 holes golfcourses in the direct neighbourhood like: Golf de St. Gatien, Golf de Deauville, Golf de St. Julien, Golf de Champs-de-Bataille Within a range of 45 minutes drive there are many other challenging "courses", for both high and low handicappers The nearest trainstation is at Bernay (about 20 kms), incl. connections to Paris (1hr, 20 mins). Further there are (international) airports in Deauville, Le Havre, Rouen ( 30 to 45 mins by car) and Paris-Beauvais (1 hour). Ferry connections for a.o. the UK and Ireland may be found at Le Havre (30 mins), Caen (1 hr) and somewhat further down the road at Dieppe North from where we are and Quimper in Britannie. see house rules
