Kenwick, Louth and the surrounding Lincolnshire wolds and coast are a very special place. Often undiscovered by many there is a mix of specialised shops (Cheese, Butchers etc) in Louth. A wealth of eateries and cafes from sandwiches to fine dining, good chinese and asian cuisine. A great pub (The Royal Oak known as The Splash), a 20 minute walk across the golf course, with great food and beer garden. Mablethorpe has long open beaches, as well as a Seal Sanctuary to visit that is always a hit with the kids. There are plenty of nearby places for short or long walks. Within 30 minutes of the lodge there are many bird and nature reserves, salt marshes, play farms and barns, Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre, towns with great antique shops, Horse Racing at Market Rasen. Lincoln Castle, home of one of the original copies of the Magna Carta as well as Lincoln town centre is a 27 mile drive. Alford windmill is a favourite place to visit. A short drive away, it is a fully working windmill with a lovely tea room, and a great place to stop on the way to or from Mablethorpe. Not too far is Skegness for a fun day and/or Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve for bird watching. Grimsby is also worth a visit to the trawler museum, and if you want to go slightly further afield, then Hull, the european city of culture has many attractions, but the Deep is one of the best Aquariums in the country. Whether you stay onsite or explore the local towns, villages or coast, there is more than enough to keep couples, families and visitors of all ages busy for a full and diverse holiday, which is why so many of our guests come back again and again. And with all of this comes the friendship and helpfulness of the local people. And It's amazing how a 90 minute drive can take you to a different culture. There is parking for 2-3 cars outside the lodge, with overflow parking nearby. Our guests at Acorn Lodge have free access to Magna Vitae Meridian Leisure Centre Louth LN11 8SA from March-October (approximately 2 miles from lodge) This membership also includes access to Skegness swimming pool & Fitness suite, Station Sports Centre Mablethorpe & Horncastle swimming pool & Fitness suite. Further details in lodge. Its good to know that you can get supermarket Home Deliveries & Argos Deliveries on site. They come mainly from Grimsby, and they all manage to find us. Taxis to Louth are only a few pounds if you fancy a night out and a bottle of wine! The Lodge is the most luxurious property on the site. It is situated at the top end of the site with the woods and private walks around it, but it is not overshadowed by the trees. It has been furnished to a very high standard. We have a wood burning stove that unlike many rented lodges we allow guests to use (with caution please!), and we have installed a private 4 seater Hot Tub on the veranda for private sensible use by our guests. We do not rent the lodge through the hotel or other rental companies as we wish to keep it up to a 5 star standard and therefore have no wish or need to have it booked every day of the year. We are privileged to have had guests who have come for years and are lucky enough to have one couple who got engaged at our lodge, have since been married and are now returning every year with their children. The Golf Course is open for non-members and is a beautiful woodland course. Tennis and other sports are also available through the spa. There is also a wealth of fishing lakes situated within close distance of the lodge for those who are keen anglers.
