Hidden gem apartment in sleepy Durham village.
A self-contained 2 bedroom apartment in the beautiful hamlet of Cornsay, County Durham. The accommodation has 2 large bedrooms with a shared bathroom between them. Room 1 has a double bed plus bunk beds of which the bottom bunk is also a double. Room 2 has a single bed plus identical bunk with the bottom bunk being a double. Bathroom has separate bath and shower cubicle. Fully fitted kitchen / dining area plus lounge with log burner is in the main building accessed via the courtyard. Guest accommodation is split between 2 buildings which are linked by the courtyard. The 2 bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor of the ‘small house’ whilst the lounge / kitchen / dining area is across the courtyard (5 metres away) in the ‘big house’ Separate entrances from host accommodation so completely private. I live on the same site as the AirBnB stay but the entrances are separate so I find that after checking-in and my initial ‘Meet and Greet’ the guests and I don’t really need to see each other. However am always on hand for any questions / help / tips and local information and even if I’m not in, I always tell guests that I’m contactable by phone or text 24/7 The village itself is very quiet and peaceful (only 17 houses) Close to neighbouring villages Lanchester (3 miles) and Esh Winning (3 miles) for all amenities. Lots of opportunities for walking and cycling. Durham city centre is approx 9 miles away. Newcastle is approx 15 miles away. Amongst other attractions nearby is Beamish Museum (8 miles) Hall Hill farm is an award winning children’s visitor attraction with all the usual farm animals (plus baby animals) only a mile away Guests park to the right of the gatepost (usually next to my car - blue Jaguar) Space for 3 + cars. There are local taxi firms available if guests wish to return from a night out. There are 2 Barbecues in the courtyard for guests to use at their leisure - a modern 6 burner gas model plus a brand new 57’ Weber Kettle for charcoal fans (you will have to bring your own charcoal) The log burner in the lounge makes night-times extra cosy. You need logs of course which I originally suggested a small charge for but (within reason) don’t bother charging for now. I have added a log-store right outside the lounge patio doors and keep it filled. Help yourself and enjoy the ‘real fire’ experience.
