Bailey's Beach Cottage
Sweeping sea views, sleep to sound of crashing waves. Stylish 2 roomed self catering cottage. Frequent whale, dolphin sightings. Double bedroom en suite. Single sleeper for 3rd person in kitchen area but limited privacy as bathroom off bedroom. See pics. Brighton Beach is 12 km south of Durban, unspoiled natural beach accessible by foot. Very RETRO feel to Bluff. Need travel to Durban for night life, fine dining! Need a car. Here it is very peaceful, private & SAFE. Only have one cottage on my property so space is very private. Gas barbecue on guest patio. Shower in unit - no bath. Easy access. Also flat terrain - no steps, unless coming to upstairs veranda. There is a steep slope at end of garden - warning for small children. Kitchen has hob and convection microwave for cooking - plus barbecue. Your space looks down over sand and sea - no roofs of buildings. Secure parking and private access to cottage which is below main house. Own remote for entry and exit to property. Share gate and driveway with next door property which is a bonus as offers better security, more space and also additional accommodation if travelling with more people. Also has available 2 units to let. Guests must be met by either myself or staff member so time of arrival important. As owner I am available to guests to advise re what to do, where to go. . Cottage has efficient WIFI so can do everything. Included in day rate cottage is serviced daily on weekdays - can arrange separately for weekends and holidays. R150 per morning. Can also arrange for personal laundry to be done. I work from my home above cottage but in no way does my property intrude on guests privacy. Do not see neighbours either. This is definitely a residential neighbourhood. The beach forms part of a nature conservancy so any building down there is a historical mistake. Small pools for kids and a big tidal pool for serious swimming. Rough sea and rocks but there are designated beach bathing areas with life guards. About 8 minutes walk from cottage down to beach. Quite a steep hike but does not seem to deter guests at all. There are no taxi ranks, no hotels and no fine restaurants on Bluff. 2 modern shopping centres with every fast food outlet including McDonalds - and for the discerning, a Woolies Fine Food Shop about 500m away. This destination is quite the opposite of Umhlanga which is edge to edge hotels and restaurants. Our beach has easy access, plenty parking. Step out of car and on to the sand. Most of our guests will travel from Bluff to sight see city and Umhlanga and eat in style during days and then come back to Bluff at end of day to enjoy the sea and best South Africa wine without a worry about drinking and driving. No public transport really - only municipal buses and our notorious public taxis. Can call Uber and private taxis. We can recommend. Best bet to drive here or hire a car. Strongly advise you have your own transport. UBER is available but apart from small corner store and liquor shop nothing but the beach is walking distance. Can take long beach walks, especially good at low tide. Lovely rustic breakfast place at Anstey's Beach, Heidi's Coffee Shop.
