'The Little House' ( my grandson's name for it it) is a hidden gem, in the centre of the lovely village of Stock. It is a detached, converted small barn with its own entrance, key box and allocated parking space in front. You'll find this space light and airy and very private, decorated with a sailing theme throughout. There are two village shops (with late opening hours) , a hairdresser and beauty salon, four pubs and a cafe within less than five minutes walk. Step aboard village life when you come to stay in this newly renovated barn with a nautical theme. It's a tranquil space and l'm sure you'll feel the peaceful ambiance as soon as you enter. You can snuggle down and leave the world behind, or alternatively, go for a gentle meander around the village, deciding where you'd like to go for dinner.... 'The Little House consists of an open living area with a breakfast bar and kitchenette. There is a fridge, microwave with grill, dishwasher and a portable two ring electric hob. ( Please note - there is not a full oven available) . A ground floor shower room with wc, hand basin and heated towel rail leads off this open living space. A staircase leads up to the mezzanine bedroom, with a double bed, hanging rail with hangers, a shelf unit and bedside cabinets. There are plenty of electric sockets throughout. I hope you'll love this secret hideaway, located right in the centre of the village. Guests have an allocated parking space right in front of the property. The 'Little House' is an entirely self contained space with its own keybox for entry. It doesn't have a garden, but guests can have access via a gate to a patio table and chairs at the bottom of my garden on a sunny day to enjoy breakfast outside, or a drink in the evening. I'm very happy to offer information to my guests if needed, so please don't be shy about asking! l will otherwise keep a low profile during your stay. Stock is a charming village located between Chelmsford and Billericay on the B1007, with easy access to the A12 and A127 and M25. Unlike many villages nowadays, it's a very lively place with four pubs and a cafe, two shops, with late opening hours, hairdressers and beauty salon, doctor's surgery, library, and a hotel with spa and pool and there are also three churches. The seaside towns of Southend on Sea, West Mersea, Frinton, Walton and Clacton are about an hour's drive away, but the historic riverside town of Maldon and the sailing mecca of Burnham on Crouch are closer, about 30- 45 minutes away. Essex has the lingest coastline of any county in England - due to the very many small inlets as well as the large estuaries of The Stour, The Blackwater and The Crouch. Colchester and Hedingham are famous for their historic castles. If gardens and gardening are your passion then, RHS Hyde Hall with its magnificent gardens and activities is well worth a visit and about 20 minutes drive away. There are also many beautiful walks around the village for you to enjoy, in the woods or in open countryside and Hanningfield Reservoir with its fishing, nature reserve and cafe is about 4 miles away. There are also many interesting and historic towns and villages to the north of the county, such as Coggeshall, Thaxted, Saffron Walden, Finchingfield and Great Dunmow with their beautiful old timber framed houses, so prevalent in Essex. Flatford Mill, made famous by the artist John Constable, and the charming village of Dedham is about 50 minutes drive away. If you need any information about places to go or recommendations for pubs or restaurants, please ask! There is a regular bus service to Chelmsford, Billericay, Basildon and Lakeside from the centre of the village. There is also a bus to Stansted Airport. Trains from Ingatestone, Billericay and Chelmsford take 30-40 minutes to get to Liverpool Street. Access to the M25 is easy via the A12 and A127. The Little House is ideally situated if you are attending a wedding at Greenwoods Hotel or Crondon Park, with the added benefit that you can walk to both these venues! Stockbrook Manor is a couple of miles away by car or taxi. Crondon Park Golf Course and Stockbrook Golf Course are both nearby. The Dandelion and Burdock cafe and The Harvard Inn - both two minutes walk away, serve breakfast and l highly recommend them both (best to check opening hours whilst Covid19 restrictions are in force). Or you can pop over to nearby Budgens supermarket nearby to buy all you need for breakfast or supper.
