It's the perfect place to stay to visit Normandy, being just 1h from the coast (Deauville, Honfleur), 1h30 from the Landing beaches, 1h30 from Paris, 30m from Rouen, 1h from Monet's gardens. 3 chateaux and parks within a 30kms radius and lots of quaint little villages and typical French markets selling local produce We wanted to provide just what we, ourselves, would like to find when we go away for the weekend, or longer. i.e. a comfortable and clean holiday home - All the home-to-home comforts which help you relax and enjoy : Comfy leather sofa + armchair, King-size bed in ground floor bedroom next to shower room and separate toilet, dishwasher, micro wave oven, vitro-ceramic hob, large fridge-freezer, washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, iron, hair dryer etc. Three beds upstairs on the mezzanine : 2 single beds + a second double bed. House + bed linen provided (sheets, quilt covers + pillowcases, table cloth, dish cloths + kitchen towels). The beds will be made up for your arrival. All you need for babies including : 2 cots, 2 high chairs, a bath, a potty, a WC seat, cutlery + crockery, bed rails, stair gate, toys, games, DVDs and books for all ages. Set in a quaint village, just a five-minute drive from Brionne – a pretty market town, with restaurants, supermarkets, post office, bakers, butchers, newsagents, doctors, chemists, banks, 24-hr petrol stations and a beautiful lake with sandy beach, play area for children, swimming area, water sports, mini-golf, cafe etc. You’ll find plenty of brochures and a Visitors’ Guide giving you details on what there is to do and see in the area. There’s also a Tourist Office in Brionne if you need any specific information, but here are a few ideas: Within walking distance : Fontaine La Soret Castle + Gardens (open in July + August), Aclou Water mill and 15th century Tithe Barn. Brionne (2 miles. Population 5000) Twice a week on Sunday + Thursday mornings there’s a colourful lively market. Here you’ll find fresh fish + seafood or you can buy a chicken roasted on the spit, with a French stick still warm from the oven. There's a leisure and sports area idyllically set by a lake where you can swim, fish, play tennis, crazy golf or try the peddle boats + canoes. Several supermarkets, banks, chemists and terrace cafés. You can also visit a natural cave (steeped in WW2 history) which has become a mushroom farm. Chateau d'Harcourt (6 miles) Medieval castle and the oldest Arboretum in France in a wooded park of 100 hectares. Le Bec Hellouin (6 miles) Quaint Norman village with an 11th century Abbey where the monks make and sell pottery in their craft shop. Antique shops, an art gallery and a 30-mile paved footpath welcoming strollers and cyclists through forests and fields (La Voie Verte). Bernay (8 miles. Population 11,000) Typical Norman architecture including an 11th century minster and several old timbered houses dating form the 15th and 16th centuries. Market town with many local products on offer, many made by small family businesses - Cheeses : Camembert, Pont L'Eveque, Livarot. Drinks : Cider, Calvados + Pommeau. Indoor + Outdoor (in the summer months) swimming pool. Play park for the kids; several supermarkets including a large Leclerc and a variety of restaurants (traditional, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and of course a McDonald’s). Le Neubourg (12 miles) The biggest market in the county is held every Wednesday morning in the town centre, you will find lots of fresh fruit + vegetables as well as local produce. There’s an indoor swimming pool + sauna with large shallow pool + slide for young children and bigger pool + slide for swimmers. A Leclerc supermarket, similar to the one in Bernay : Open Mondays 2pm-7.30pm. Tuesday-Saturday 8.45am-7.30pm. Sundays 9.30am-12.30pm. Nearby: Chateau de Champ de Bataille (15 miles) 18th century castle + gardens with an 18-hole golf course. Chateau de Beaumesnil (17 miles) : Another nearby castle set in a beautiful park. Lisieux (22 miles) : 20th century Basilica. The Tour de France cycling race calls here on July 7th 2011. Cerza Wildlife Park (24 miles) : About 500 animals in natural surroundings set in 150 acres of woodland. Safari by miniature train. etc etc... We live just up the road should you need any help during your stay, and we call by to feed the hens 2-3 times/week, but we respect our guests' privacy at all times. Parking on site.
