Secluded country retreat for 2 - luxury in woods
Dragonfly Lodge Ifold is a luxury self-catered apartment tucked away in beautifully quiet West Sussex countryside. This spacious self-contained flat renovated from a large double garage is a naturally light, modern space nestled in front of stunning woodland in our 7 acre garden and Alpaca field. With a river, canal, rolling fields, woods and a meca of footpaths on your doorstep, this is the perfect launchpad to explore the countryside by foot, bike or horse. It's dog walkers heaven. Dragonfly Lodge Ifold is an entire self-contained single-storey ground floor apartment with private entrance and parking. Light, modern and airy with views across fields, woodland and the Wey & Arun canal. The lodge is attached (via locked utility room) to our family home but feels very private. Spacious parking at the front of the lodge makes it easy to unload your things. Vertical blinds let in loads of light through the two large double patio doors and give you extra privacy when desired. The lodge is extremely well-kitted out with everything you should need to cook in the fully equipped large kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. We include a welcome box with fresh ground coffee, organic teas, sugar, fresh juice, local eggs, bread, jam and butter (alternatives available on request). There are kitchen essentials like bin bags, dishwasher tablets, cling film, foil, soap and washing equipment for you to use. The King size bedroom has a comfy bed, quality cotton linen, luxury wool duvet, hypo-allergenic pillows to make your stay as comfortable and hotel-like as possible. There is tons of clothes storage space in the large wardrobe and chest of drawers. A patio door leads to the outside private patio and seating area with view over the woodland and our friendly Alpacas who will be grazing nearby. The living room has a huge L shaped sofa and arm chair with smart tv, netflix and wifi. Cosy sofa blankets are provided for snuggling under. All blankets, cushions and throws are freshly washed. In the large bathroom with walk in shower you will find soft Egyptian cotton towels warmed on the heated towel rail and a selection of hotel toiletries and plenty of storage. Well behaved dogs are very welcome to join you on your stay, please refer to our house rules for more details. We ask is that any dog mess is picked up (black bins) and that dogs stay on lead out of the front of the lodge so they can not roam free into our back field and scare the Alpacas. We have a young very friendly Newfoundland dog, who is like a big baby bulldozer. He may bark when you arrive and is kept separately in our garden and does not have access to the front gate or lodge parking area. He will be over the moon to greet you, but please do not be intimidated by his size. The enclosed patio gives you a secure outside space for children or pets or to relax with a glass of wine. There is plenty of grass for dogs to stretch their legs on at the front leading down to the many footpaths straight from our garden along the canal and to local villages and pubs, we ask that dogs are kept on lead as the neighbouring farmers field boundary is not secure. The lodge has been converted with couples in mind but you are very welcome to bring babies / children as there is space for an extra bed/cot. We have everything you would need that could be added (on request) - travel cot, highchair, books and indoor and outdoor toys. The large corner sofa bed can be made into 1 adult single or 2 child single beds or a large king size. Extra bedding can be provided for a small charge. You have the privacy of the lodge and private patio to yourself for your stay. The driveway is shared with our household and we can show you the best place to park. Our driveway accesses the bridleway and footpaths along the Wey & Arun canal (Sussex Border Path) and there are plenty of stunning loops to walk and cycle. We gladly welcome guests to join us in feeding the Alpacas every afternoon. I like to be there to welcome you personally but it is also possible for you to arrive and let yourself in. I will be on hand to answer any questions or to help with any additional things you may need but will also leave you alone to enjoy your peaceful stay. Stunningly beautifully and quiet West Sussex countryside. Ifold is a quiet private estate Hamlet (shop reopening in April 2020) and we are located at the very end of a long winding farm track over the river bridge and across the canal out the back of the hamlet. It is a short 10-15 minute walk along the canal to Loxwood where there is a great local shop, pub and award winning butchers. 7 minutes drive the other direction is another great local shop and tearoom at Plaistow located on a picturesque village green. You'll need a car here but if you like to walk or ride then you will be in your element. We are about 45 minutes from Gatwick airport (28 miles). 45 minutes from Goodwood (22 miles). 25 minutes from Horsham (14 miles). 20 minutes from Cranleigh (9.5 miles). 15 minutes from Billingshurst. 30 minutes from Guildford. In the winter you'll need your welly boots to navigate the many footpaths and bridleways. Bring slippers too, as the hard floors in the lodge can feel cool under foot in winter. Our access road occasionally floods during periods of heavy rainfall, alternative parking will be advised at time of booking. We have a large Newfoundland dog who is very friendly, please don't worry if he barks as you arrive (just doing his duty). He is fenced in our garden, separately from the main gate and lodge parking area. He'll want to poke his nose up over our patio gate to say hello when you park. We also run a vehicle transport company 'ClassicHaul' from our home, so have two large trailers that may need manoeuvring during your stay. We'll explain the best place for you to park during your stay.
