A selection of books and board games are also provided for your enjoyment. The cottage is pet friendly and welcomes well behaved dogs which we request are kept downstairs and off furniture please. Dogs must be on their lead within the cottage grounds, as sheep, cows, horses and chickens are likely to be in adjacent fields. There are plenty of fabulous dog walks straight from the cottage. A shared drive offers access to The Cottage, where a stone cobbled area in-front of the Cottage can provide parking for up to three cars. We live in the adjoining farmhouse and are always pleased to help with tips and advice on where to explore in the local area. However you have total privacy with parking, entrance and outlooks on your own elevation. Considering the tranquil nature of the cottage, you're only a 10 minute drive to Sowerby Bridge, and 20 minutes away from the larger town of Halifax with the Grade 1 listed Piece Hall and Square Chapel, Victoria Theatre, Dean Clough Galleries, Shibden Hall/Park (as seen in HBO/BBC series "Gentleman Jack") or children's museum Eureka. A 15 minute drive also brings you to fabulous Hebden Bridge, a town surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Hebden Bridge has been voted as the "fourth funkiest town in the world", "best small market town in the UK" and "the greatest town in Europe". 'Bronte Country', Haworth and Holmfirth are also within 25-30 minute drive. If you love walking, cycling or simply relaxing then it’s all on offer. There are many cafes, restaurants and country pubs amongst the surrounding villages and towns. Less than 3 miles from Cragg Vale (England's longest continuous cycling ascent at 5.5 miles), featured on both Tour De France and Yorkshire routes, avid cyclists won't be disappointed. There are also some wonderful walks on your doorstep, just set off and you will find plenty of signposted paths and bridleways. (Maps in the cottage ) There is a small bus that passes the Cottage every hour to Sowerby Bridge/Halifax, however driving would be the most appropriate means of transport to access the local towns, villages, shops and stores. Sowerby Bridge train station is 10 minutes away and offers access to Leeds or Manchester within 45 minutes. Leeds-Bradford and Manchester Airports are around 45-50 minutes away. The Alma Inn is around a 25-30 min walk/5 min drive but worth it when you get there with great food, wines and ales and located in a pretty rural setting. A dog friendly farm shop/cafe "Craggies" is a 20-25 minute walk/5 min drive. Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge also have many eateries which we can recommend.
