The Little Barn - Spacious characterful barn
The Little Barn is set in one and a half acres of paddock in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. A stylish one bedroom barn - perfect for a cosy and tranquil getaway. Near the historic village of Quainton, with its pub on the green, village shop and windmill, there are many rural walks or simply enjoy our paddock with small orchard and bee hives. The Little Barn is ideal for 2 but has a double sofa-bed in the living area, so can sleep up to 4. Camping possible on paddock by arrangement. We would very much like to meet our guests in person to welcome them but as busy working people this may not always be possible. There is a lockbox for independent check in and check out but we hope to be available to help you with any queries during your stay. Quainton village is a 5 minute walk and boasts a village green, shop with post office, pub, coffee shop and Victorian windmill (open to visitors most Sunday mornings). There is also a greengrocers that is open in the mornings Tuesdays-Saturdays and a fish and chip van that visits on a Wednesday evening from 5.30pm - 7pm. The pub does food at lunchtimes and in the evenings. The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is at the lower end of Station Road in Quainton. It has a steam train museum and steam trains run on certain days, along with a miniature railway. More information can be found at the Bucks Railway Centre website. We are close to several National Trust properties, the closest being Waddesdon Manor (2 miles) and Claydon House (4 miles). The village of Waddesdon itself is 5 minute drive and has two pubs, a coffee shop, a barbers, a Indian restaurant and Chinese takeway. Aylesbury is 5 miles (10 mins drive) and Milton Keynes is (30 mins drive) for shopping. Bicester Shopping Village is 20 mins away and Oxford is 30-40 mins away for concerts, museums, punting, restaurants etc. Aylesbury Vale Parkway is our nearest railway station with trains direct to London Marylebone taking just over 1hr. It is possible to walk to Quainton via a public bridleway, largely avoiding the main road. There are some works associated with HS2 approx. 1 mile away and this can cause some local road closures/diversions. We are some distance from this and not directly affected. It is no problem to park by the village green in Quainton. There are many cyclists in the area, many of whom are sure to stop at the village Coffee Shop on the green.
