No. 2 Heritage Way, Oakworth, Handy for Haworth
We invite you to stay in our spacious home which has ample privacy for guests. We have Bronte Country on our doorstep but are without Haworth's parking issues. You can walk to Haworth in 20 minutes or drive/take the bus in 5. We're also close to other stunning tourist attractions such as Bolton Abbey, the Dales, and the local heritage of Bradford and Keighley. We offer e -bike rental ( 2 max) and have a hot tub, small sauna and lovely outdoor seating area to chill out in. Pet friendly too! No. 2 Heritage Way is a large house with lots of space both inside and out. One unique thing about it is that it has 4 real hens and 3 giant ornamental sheep in the garden. But there is still space for an outdoor eating area, a hot tub, sauna, a swingball game and plenty of lawn space for other games and sheltered sunbathing in summer. It might sound weird to have twin orthopeadic beds but older people love them for their comfort and kids love the novelty of using the remote controls to go up and down and lift their legs and head. I am an occasional land artist and each of the bedrooms is named after one of my favourite instalations. The double bedroom is the Broad-Ford suite, the single room is the Branwell and the bicycle suite and the twin room is the Winking Goose Winking Turkey suite. In our jobs for the local Sue Ryder hospice we are involved with the organisation of a high proportion of the local events that are going on on our doorstep and we can make sure we will notify you in advance of any that are happening during your stay. These include sportives, mountain bike challenges and trail runs in the fantastic local landscape. We will only ever take in one party of guests at a time and therefore guests can take their pick from 3 private bedrooms and are guarenteed to have a private bathroom adjacent to their bedroom(s) for just their party. Usually Harriet and I live in the house so it has an element of being shared to it but it is large enough so as we don't get under each others feet. There is also a downstairs bathroom which guests are welcome to use, this has a big luxurious bath. The guests have their own living room/dining room with a TV with all channels. There are another 4 TVs in the house available to guests which have free-sat channels. Another shared room is the table tennis table room which links the guests living/dining room with the kitchen. There are two ovens, 5 hobs and plenty of space in the dishwasher, fridge and freezer. The utility room which contains the washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing equipment is yours to use when you wish. There is a well stocked bookshelf including publications on the local area. Outdoors there are 2 car parking spaces on the driveway, if guests need 2 they can have them both and we will park elsewhere. There is a large garden to enjoy containing a seating and eating area, the hot tub, BBQ, swingball game and a lawned area with washing line. Guests are welcome to collect and eat any freshly laid eggs from our chicken coup. We do live in the house but our busy jobs as fundraisers at the local hospice mean you'll probably have the place to yourself for most of your stay especially through the summer. That said, being sociable hosts is very important to us and having lived our whole life locally we can help you with any questions you may have about the area. Oakworth is a large south facing village with 2 village stores and 2 pubs both within 5 minutes walk of No. 2 Heritage Way. There is also a ladies hairdressers, 2 barbers shops, a sewing cafe, a fish and chip shop, a Chinese takaway and a Indian takaway. For more choice of takaways you are only 5 minutes drive from the town of Keighley and so all the restaurants there will deliver to Oakworth. And if you fancy some good home made food, the Golden Fleece Inn does great food including their award winning Saxon pies. There are another dozen good eating places within ten minutes drive including restaurants on Haworth Main Street and the Wuthering Heights Inn in the village of Stanbury. Oakworth's biggest claim to fame is that it features heavily in the classic film 'The Railway Children'. Oakworth station on the Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway remains just as it was on the film and is a great place to climb aboard the train which has stops at Keighley, Ingrow, Haworth and Oxenhope. Within the village is the grounds of what was Holden Hall, a stately home built by mill owner Sir Isaac Holden that burned to the ground in the 19th Centuary. Oakworth is the home of proffessional cyclist Tom Moses who rides through the village each year when the Tour de Yorkshire comes through in early May. No. 2 Heritage way has excellent parking for the cars but is also handy for those travelling by public transport. Keighley has an excellent train service being on the line from Kings Cross in London to Skipton in North Yorkshire. Once at Keighley a five minute walk through town takes visitors to the towns modern bus station where the K7 takes visitors to with 200m of the house on a half hourly basis through the week and hourly on weekends. There are also services from Oakworth to Haworth, Oxenhope and Stanbury on a less frequent basis. Taxis are very reasonable in the area. We offer an ebike rental and have set out some great routes of different distances to follow to make sure that you can take in all the best sights at your own pace with some much needed help on the hills! We now offer a discounted e-bike hire service for 2 adults and have created some lovely scenic routes so you can enjoy the surrounding country side at your own pace. See photos We have a chilled out cat and a friendly young anti-allergenic dog Dora which live in the house, they are well behaved and no trouble. Dora in particular is a huge hit with the guests.
