"Bumble" The Shepherd's Hut
This traditionally inspired, hand-made Shepherds Hut is nestled inside a paddock in the leafy county of Hampshire. It offers a tranquil retreat in a home away from home setting with a cosy open plan living space championed by the log burning stove. Enjoy cooking your own English Breakfast - of which eggs are graciously supplied by our chickens -amongst views and visits of our 13 strong Alpaca herd. Please let us know if you'd like to meet and feed the Alpaca - they'd like to meet you! We had the hut built last year and are delighted with it! It's 7' 6" wide and longer than average at 20' .. and this allowed us to add ceiling height .. so though cosy it is not claustrophobic. Our guests so far have all expressed surprise as to how big it actually feels once inside! As we like the traditional hut style we opted for a built in bed ..with storage underneath.. which means one person can have longer in bed while the other cooks breakfast .. no turning the bed into a table here! The biggest person in the bed so far was 6'3" and 18 stone .. and declared it 'most comfortable'! We have tried hard to make the space, though small, practical, super cosy and interesting and perhaps a little quirky. The log burning stove is wonderfully efficient ... and as well as great heat you get a fun cooking experience too! However, if you are not in the mood for that there is an induction plate stored in the cupboard. We supply a hearty breakfast basket on arrival. We will ask you in advance of your stay if you maybe Vegetarian or Vegan so that we can be sure you will be well fed! We have a wooden chairs outside the hut along with a a swing chair suspended from the oak the hut sits under. There is a little wood burning stove outside too .. and whilst the wood for the hut's stove is included in the price of your stay, the outside wood is charged at £5 per bag in addition. There are cushions and extra rugs stored under the bed for your comfort. You are welcome to wander whilst with us .. generally in the day the alpaca prefer to take themselves off to another field .. and you are welcome to go visit them at anytime. We find that many people really do visit for the 'alpaca experience' .. and so we are always happy to have you help feed them .. or even shower them' .. in the morning. We don't rush this .. and often find a hour has sped by whilst we chat 'alpaca'. However, if you are not interested, or want to be swift, then that's just fine too! We really enjoy meeting other people from the Airbnb community and our ultimate aim is to help you have the nicest stay possible!! Once arrived at Field House just head towards "Hut Parking Only' and pull up. Though we have three dogs they sleep deeply (sometimes) so if they don't hear you arrive please ring the bell on the tree or knock hard on the front door of the main house! The hut is through the garden and into the paddock. Please be aware that it might well be muddy .. so stow your best shoes! Please always be sure to shut the gates! One or other of us will be home most likely. We are very happy to help with local information etc. Just ask! DIRECTIONS!! Our post code GU30 7RJ is really tricky .. as it lumps us in with 22 houses we are not near! EITHER USE: WHAT3WORDS PUSHY PROTESTS BALLPOINT OR YOU WILL NEED TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS!! THE FIELD HOUSE, PASSFIELD COMMON, PASSFIELD is directly off the B3004 which runs between LIPHOOK and BORDON. YOU COULD BE COMING FROM 3 DIRECTIONS ... but hopefully the following will help! IF YOU ARE COMING FROM LIPHOOK on the B3004 the sat nav will get you near, on your RIGHT, a little shop, THE PASSFIELD STORES , set off a green .. with a POST BOX and TELEPHONE BOX. *** From there IGNORE the SAT NAV!! Stay on the main road .. do NOT be tempted to go down the dirt track to the row of small houses! With the SHOP on your RIGHT continue along the main road going past the double entrance to the Passfield MIll Industrial Estate, which is also on your right. You will then see ahead TWO YELLOW SPEED SIGNS : 30 /STANDFORD. INDICATE RIGHT and TURN RIGHT JUST IN FRONT OF THE SIGN. +++ Our house name: THE FIELD HOUSE is marked on either side of the track on the verge. You have arrived! Follow the track, turning left before the main house, pass the Car Port and park where it says HUT PARKING only. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE PORTSMOUTH direction then you will most likely travel along The Hollywater Road, at the junction with the B3004 THE PASSFIELD STORES / TELEPHONE & POST BOX will be OPPOSITE you. TURN LEFT onto the B3004. NOW FOLLOW THE ROUTE ABOVE *** IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE FARNHAM / ALTON / BORDON way you will travel through LINDFORD. The road narrows and becomes twisty. KEEP GOING till you see TWO YELLOW SPEED SIGNS : 40 /PASSFIELD. INDICATE LEFT AND TURN JUST AFTER THE SIGN ON THE LEFT. Follow +++ as above! Finger's crossed .. but call if lost!
