A renovated eco shepherd's hut in a gorgeous rural setting in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the ideal place for social distancing and relaxing. Historic sites, excellent walking routes and countless country pubs are on your doorstep. This original 19th Century and charmingly rustic shepherd's hut has a private utility block in an old stable containing a kitchen, shower and loo, all off the grid. Relax by your own firepit and enjoy lovely west facing views from your sundeck. This secluded space within a 4 acre plot is a haven of peace and tranquillity and is a perfect holiday setting for solo travellers, couples, families or small groups. Nestled in the Nadder Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it will allow you to escape from the hustle and bustle and get back to nature and relax. We are minutes away from Tisbury village and train station, all easily walkable. Nearby attractions include Stonehenge, Stourhead, Longleat safari park and the Jurassic coast including Durdle Door and Lulworth cove. The hut and stable block are located in a meadow banked by wildflowers, well removed from the main house. From there, you can enjoy your breakfasts or sundowners al fresco in total privacy. This cosy hut measures 3.8m x 2m, has a comfy double bed, a modern log burning stove, solar powered lights and a USB socket. A 4m bell tent is available as a second bedroom for guests or family and can be booked on a linked listing: Glamping @Lime Cottage. A few meters away, just beyond the wildflowers, you'll find a newly renovated, solar powered stable block. You have sole use of the gas fired shower, composting loo and well-equipped kitchen to allow you to self cater. The kitchen has hot water on demand, a Belfast sink, a two-ring gas stove and table for four. The Kadai fire pit also doubles as a barbecue for outdoor living with a grill and cooking pot. Access is via a private lane and there’s parking and limited Wifi on-site. We provide a welcome drinks pack with tea, coffee & milk. Both the hut and utility block have furnishings and fittings made using quirky reclaimed materials wherever possible so don’t expect everything to match or be without flaws. Its all part of the charm. Bring your art supplies and be inspired by the landscape and don't be surprised to see sheep grazing in the next door field. Overall, this is a magical place to hole up, step off the treadmill, dream, stargaze, write and recuperate. In line with Airbnb guidelines, we have increased our cleaning schedule and will observe social distancing to ensure your safety. The field with the shepherd's hut is exclusively for guests. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, the surrounding paddocks and garden can only be accessed on request at this time. This is our home so we are usually around and happy to provide tips and information about the beautiful surrounding countryside. Or with your own access and space you are welcome to explore on your own if you prefer. We will visit daily to refresh the compost loo and replace ice blocks. Our home is in the famously attractive undulating countryside of the Nadder Valley, part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. We are five minutes drive from Tisbury, described by The Times as one of the top 10 villages in which to live. The village offers a range of independent shops and boutiques, a tearoom, a coffee shop and a host of award winning pubs. Many of these pubs can be walked to, including the highly acclaimed Beckford Arms - which you will need to book in advance. We recommend you bring your wellies to test out some of these walks. Tisbury is also home to Messums Wiltshire, a contemporary arts centre housed in an ancient thatched barn. Tisbury is just 10 minutes off the A303, and once you are here local towns are within easy access. You are 15 minutes from Shaftesbury, home of the famous Gold Hill, and 20 minutes’ drive from Salisbury where you can see Stonehenge, Old Sarum and the 123m cathedral spire, particularly famous in Russia. Tisbury station is also on the main south-west trainline from London to Exeter. We are only an hour's drive from the Jurassic coast where you can visit Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Our home is within walking distance of Tisbury train station (15 mins over the fields or 20 mins by road). There is no taxi rank at the station but we can advise the number for a local taxi service. There's a local bus service which connects Tisbury to the main towns, Salisbury and Shaftesbury. Although this listing is aimed at couples, we will accept families & small groups by booking the hut and a separate 4m bell tent on the linked listing: Glamping @Lime Cottage. Or you could reserve our other listing: The Loft@Lime Cottage which sleeps 2.
