The Annex at Osborne House
This is a fully self contained annex within our family home. It is luxurious and comfortable with all the essential amenities. Situated in Warsash, a stones throw from the River Hamble, we are within 10 miles of both Southampton and Portsmouth. The main house is situated in a beautiful green setting with views of the river. Please note that guests can enjoy the patio directly outside the annex and may park on the grass adjacent to the annex (sign posted). The rest of the garden is not open to Air bnb guests. We have strictly only one parking space on the grass as pictured in the listing photos Antonia is usually on site and very happy to help with whatever needs you may have Warsash is a beautiful village, situated on the river Hamble. It is a probably a 20 minute walk down the road and into the village. There are several lovely pubs close by. Warsash sailing club is 5 minutes by car. As is the Warsash Maritime Academy. Easy access to the motorway (junction 8/9 M27) should you be travelling to tourist areas such as the New Forest or Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Please drive carefully down Brook Avenue as badgers and deer are a common occurrence! WALKS- there is a house on the corner (just before the road curves round to the right and then Osborne House is on the right) that has a public right of way running down the side of it. If you follow this path it takes you to a tow path and as long as the tide is out (check Warsash tide times) then you can walk across and get the pink ferry to Hamble. The tow path itself is a beautiful walk and very popular with bird watchers. I believe the pink ferry costs £2.50 per adult and runs all week in the summer (9/10am till 4/5pm). If you walk past the pink ferry you will get to the Rising Sun pub. Please just message or call Antonia if you would like more information on this. If you go out of Osborne House and turn right and continue to the end you will come to an entrance to Holly Hill Woods. Again, please contact Antonia if you would like anymore information on walks or the local area. Car is the easiest way to get around. There is a bus stop in the village. The nearest train station is Swanwick, 3 miles away. The nearest convenience store is the Co-op on Warsash Road (3 Warsash Road, SO31 9HW), open everyday 6am till 11pm. There is also a One Stop in the village which has a post office. These are just a 3-4 minute drive from Brook Avenue. There are 3 pubs in the village. The Ship and Shovel does good food generally. Across the road is the Silver Fern which shows a lot of sports games, had a separate restaurant area at the back where children are welcome. They also have a large beer garden with a children’s play area. The food is ok. The Rising Sun pub is my favourite and situated right on the water. There is a car park in front of the pub but you can take drinks outside in plastic cups and sit on the boardwalk and watch the boats. You can also walk past Warsash Sailing Club opposite and into Strawberry Fields which is a lovely big green area which over looks the water . The food is very good at the Rising Sun and my husband likes the ales there, a good selection apparently! There is a Chinese take away in the village called the New Lucky House. It is always busy weekends and evenings, if you can’t get through on the phone, do just go down and order and wait (91 Brook Lane, SO31 9FH, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) There is also an Indian restaurant in the village called the Chon Chola (25 Shore Road, SO31 9FS, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) The Locks Heath Shopping centre is approximately 7-10 minutes away. It has a Costa Coffee, Waitrose, chemist and post office. There is a big Tesco Extra up at Bursledon open 24 hours (SO31 8GN).
