The Annexe at The Down House

The Annexe is a self catering apartment for 2 adjoining our family home - so we are always on hand to help! Its location on the edge of the city combines easy access with a lovely country outlook. We offer discounts for stays of 7 nights or more. Our visitors love the light and airy large bedroom with its views over the garden and the countryside. The super king sized double bed can easily be arranged as twin beds if preferred. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a TV and DVD in the sitting room. There is free WiFi with a fast broadband connection. There is plenty of room for parking and visitors have their own key to the apartment. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and we put out tables and chairs during the warmer months. You can play croquet too! The Annexe has its own front door so you can come and go as you please and enjoy privacy and independence. As we live next door, we welcome all our guests and show them around and are always happy to help and advise. Winchester is the old capital of England. It has a renowned Cathedral, a thriving centre with top class restaurants and shops; pubs, bars, cafes, and a market. Jane Austen, the eighteenth century novelist, died in Winchester. The College is one of the oldest schools in the country. The lovely Hospital of St Cross in the water meadows is reputedly the oldest charitable institution in England. There are hills to walk up; chalk streams and rivers to stroll along; views to admire. The countryside around abounds in charming villages. The South Downs and New Forest National Parks are nearby and the sea is not far away too! We are a mile and a half from the City centre and the railway station (London - Waterloo 1 hour / Southampton - 15 minutes). Both are served by a bus every 10 minutes. We provide bed linen and towels. We also provide some breakfast ingredients, including home made bread, to get you started! There are plenty of useful shops nearby including Waitrose and Aldi supermarkets.
