Newly built, luxurious mountain-modern, off-grid cabin spectacularly situated above Marble, CO. Bask among the most spectacular mountain views you'll ever encounter, through giant window walls & outside on the mammoth sun deck..Carbonite Creek National Trail awaits just steps out the front door. Cedar ceilings, polished concrete floors, midcentury-modern furniture and luxurious accoutrements enhance the unique, decadent experience awaiting you in one of the world's most magical nature spots. Cabin is located 60 miles from Aspen, an 8-minute drive from the town center of Marble. During the winter months (including Fall and Spring months during which snow has begun/accumulated), a 4-wheel drive vehicle is required. The 2.3-mile road up the mountain to the cabin is unpaved, with no guardrails and a scattering of potholes and loose rocks. Due to high fire danger in the valley, wood-stove use is restricted to Winter Months (November~March). Cabin has radiant heated floors and a small electric heater to keep warm during cooler autumn nights. PLEASE NOTE: Driveway is of a steep grade, has loose gravel, and not regularly plowed in winter-- guests are thus asked NOT to drive down it when snow-covered/Wintertime (this follows several guests get stuck, both in rented Jeeps--causing great inconvenience and a missed plane)--Guests can park at the top of the driveway and walk down. High heels are highly advised against when walking up or down the driveway any time of year. Also, this could present a problem for handicapped or elderly guests who may require assistance, when parking at the top of the driveway. Internet wi-fi service/reception is adequate for email, slow web-searching.. but does not have bandwidth/speed for video or audio streaming. A large variety of DVDs of multiple genres is available for TV's DVD player. Multiple board games, telescope/binoculars, there's no cable/satellite TV and Marble's lack of cellphone service complete your true 'getaway' experience. There is a landline telephone at the cabin. The entire habitable cabin space. For those of us who have forgotten what a multitude of stars looks like, the Rocky Mountains surrounding Marble offer an immersion into lost wonders of contemporary life. Untrammeled snow. Unsullied air. A velvet cloak of silence. And the immeasurable reprieve of no cellphone reception! AROUND THE AREA: There is so much to see and do around Marble. Of course great hiking abounds~if you walk 75-yards further past the Aspen TreeTrunks at at top of Driveway, you will come upon the trailhead for Carbonite Creek Trail—which can take you as far as you have time to hike …No mountainbikes allowed, only horses and hikers. There's a 4-wheel jeep touring company located on the main road into town, with tours to see the historical Crystal Mill (the most photographed spot in all of Colorado) and the historic town of Crystal: Crystal River Jeep Tours. There’s great fishing (licenses available at the Fly Shop in Redstone, across from the Redstone Inn), either in the Crystal River or in Beaver Lake. Additionally, there’s a nice marble sculpture gallery just outside the town-center. There is an excellent, lively BBQ restaurant, Slow Groovin BBQ (open May~October) right in town. There’s a great coffee shop, The Hub (across from Slow Groovin, also closed in Winter) with gifts and lot of maps/info about Marble. Other nearby restaurants are in Redstone which is 5 miles before you reach the Marble turnoff--approx. 15minutes from the cabin): REDSTONE INN: historic inn that has a great bar and casual restaurant, plus a dining room for more formal meals. PROPOGANDA PIE: Detroit-style pizza, opened by the owners of Slow-Groovin BBQ--delicious. The shops in Redstone are also worthwhile, with unusual and charming gifts. The REDSTONE ART GALLERY features the work of the MARBLE SYMPOSIUM sculptors all summer, plus other Colorado artists. The Cabin is perched up above the town of Marble, at 8,800ft it's the highest property available for vacation stays in the area.
