A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the North Norfolk coast. The Gig House is situated just around the corner from the church gates in the center of the village on a very quiet lane. Perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike, this charming, cosy and characterful is ideally located just 10 minuets from a glorious sandy beach. Formerly an old coach house, it sits with its own pretty patio garden within the grounds of the owners' home in one of Norfolk's most picturesque coastal villages. Step down from entrance. Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen area. Stairs to first floor: 1 double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Woodburner in living room (initial fuel inc). Underfloor heating downstairs, central heating upstairs. Electricity, bed linen and towels inc. Travelcot, TV, DVD, Stereo/CD, Microwave, Wi-fi, terrace and furniture. Parking. No smoking. The Gig House holiday cottage nestles in the centre of the beautiful and historic village of Happisburgh on the north east coast of Norfolk. Pronounced "Haze-bruh", and spelt 'Hapesburg' in the Domesday Book, the name means 'Haep's Town'. Happisburgh is now also known as the oldest site of human habitation outside of Africa with the finding of footprints in the beach clay that are 900,000 years old. The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes' author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here. Infact the local villagers will proudly boast of the number of other illustrious visitors who have been drawn to this unique place from Robinson Cruso author Daniel Defoe, cricketer WC Grace, sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, poet John Betjeman, writer PD James and even the Queen Mother once arriving by helicopter to visit a cousin who lived in the village. The village is a must for those who enjoy the English countryside and its beaches in all seasons.
