Derbies Cottage is located in a rural hamlet. 10 minutes from Junction 4 of the M20 and 10 minutes walk from East Malling Train Station. Derbies cottage is located between West Malling and East Malling near the towns of Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Maidstone, in a small hamlet of Well Street. Noted for its 7 listed medieval houses and being included in the Domesday book, Well street is a quiet and peaceful conservation area. East Malling is a small village and has a good local pub, the King and Queen which is popular for its food and atmosphere, an 11th century church and the East Malling Agricultural Research Station which is recognised for its work on fruit research especially its development of apple rootstocks now used throughout the world.West Malling is a picturesque larger village with numerous shops, pubs and restaurants. The Swan is a Michelin starred pub/restaurant. Indian, Chinese and Thai restaurants are also located in West Malling. You can walk to both villages using local footpaths directly from the cottage.
