Pear Cottage in Western Hungary
Dear Families and Friends! We are in Western Hungary, 45 minutes north from the Lake Balaton, 3 BDRs, 1 living room, 2000 m2 garden, big terrace, 120 m2 house. Adventure park, wine growing area in the neighbourhood and the Bakony Mountains. Thermal/Wellness and lake swimming 20 mins. Pápa town 15 mins. Guests are able to book breakfast and dinner separately at our local host. We believe in slow travel, gazing at the stars and children exchanging activity from mobile phone to the nature. Our family is from Budapest, but we love nature. We bought this house in ruins, because we fell in love with the region, the garden and the soul of the house. We wanted to have a peaceful place for our little children and our family to enjoy the healing power of nature. Not very long after renovation it turned out we don't have enough time to go there enough, so we started to invite guests. Since then we have been carrying on with the help of our local co-host. The garden, the house, the land keeps on inspiring people to come back. The house has an eclectic style of old and new. We kept what we could during the renovation. The wooden ceiling in the house living room, the kitchen is the original of 100 plus years. The house has old walls, it is cool inside even in hot summers. We see this house as a place to reboot, an opportunity to connect to the environment, ourselves and to others we love, family or friends. In some cases colleagues. We do consider comfort necessary, but strive to keep the atmosphere and service at a level where visitors can get inspired to spend a time of " inside out " exploration. This is specially the reason why we don't have a TV in the house. As someone said back when TV started to spread : " It is good to get the news from the TV, but I don't like that those also come in who I didn't invite ". We wish you a peaceful stay and hopefully a little contribution of boosting your wellbeing. You will be alone in the whole house and garden. Our local host lives 2 houses away. I am available on the phone, my landlord is available in person at the location. Pear Cottage lies in the middle of a side street of Ganna village. Houses are only on one side of the street, so it is truly calm and silent in the middle of nature. By walking you can reach the Szarvaskő Castle Ruins in the neighbouring village Döbrönte through a walking path starting from the village playground. There are a lot of strolling options on foot. In the summer you can visit the Nagytevel Lake ( search : "Nagyteveli Tó") for swimming and beach, also in Pápa the Thermal and Wellness bath ( search : "Várkertfürdő Pápa" ) Pápa city is about 15 minutes drive from the house. Sobri Joska Adventure Park is about 20 minutes car drive. The biggest in the Country. You can also reach the Bakony Mountain for cycling and hiking paths. Somló Wine growing and tasting area is 45 minutes car drive away, worth a visit due to the special wines and lovely natural environment. There is also a Pálinka Manufactury at the foot of the Somló Hill. There are two parking places in the garden and plenty places outside on the street free. As this is a small end village, it is best to get around by car. There is however a regular bus traffic as well. Bicycle is also an option. In the neighbouring Döbrönte village you can make an inquiry for renting bikes at the small Hotel HASIK. Please note, that we have house rules to comply to. Loud parties like disco/boom and light supported music are not allowed in the village after 10 pm. We accept dogs on request. Please check with us first. Our garden has a fence, but we are in the nature, your dog may find the way out of the garden.
