The Dairy is completely self-contained and located in the pretty, peaceful village of Hardwick, just 12 miles south of historic Norwich. Its conversion from a farm building (a dairy!) was completed in 2018. It is perfect for couples but, because of its space and the full-double sofa-bed in the living room, it can comfortably sleep 4. It is a a great base for walks in the surrounding countryside, visiting Norwich, the Waveney Valley, the Norfolk Broads, or the beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk coasts. The Dairy has its own private entrance with one small step to get over the threshold, but once inside it is on one level throughout, including the walk-in shower. There is parking for 1 car (additional car spaces can be arranged). Make use of your own patio area with BBQ and seating, and the garden. There is a pond, which parents should be aware of, and keep their children supervised around. The Dairy is full of character with stable-door, full-height ceilings and some exposed beams. There is underfloor heating throughout, but there is also a wood-burner (with initial supply of wood free) for cosy evenings in front of the fire! The bedroom has a king-size bed and plenty of storage space - with large oak wardrobe (hangers provided) and chest of drawers. The living room has two comfortable sofas - one of which can convert to a full-size double bed, the wood-burner, flat-screen TV and DVD player. (Please note we do not provide bedding for the sofa-bed unless the booking is for 3 or more people, or unless requested in advance for which there will be a small charge to cover laundering). There's a selection of games, DVDs and books for you to use during your stay. The large kitchen with granite worktops and butler sink, has everything you need if you want to cater for yourselves, including a table and 4 chairs, full-size oven, fridge-freezer, microwave and dishwasher. We'll start your stay off by leaving you a jug of milk, and tea & coffee so you can make yourselves a cuppa as soon as you arrive! The spacious marble-tiled bathroom, has a large walk-in shower, and towels are provided. We have a couple of old bikes you may borrow during your stay with us. There is a good WIFI connection, but mobile phone signal is limited. We tend to use What'sApp for mobile calls and texting. The Dairy is fully self-contained, with it's own patio area and use of the garden. There is no washing machine or tumble drier in the Dairy, but on request you may make use of ours. We live in the converted Barn next to The Dairy, so are either directly on hand to answer any questions, or an e-mail / phone call away. If you want advice on things to do, places to eat or drink, etc we will be pleased to help, but equally happy to leave you alone if you want to keep yourselves to yourselves - whatever suits you! There is a infinite number of countryside walks from your door-step. Cycling the quiet country lanes is a pleasure as it is mainly flat and there's very little traffic. Although there is no pub or shop in the village, these can be found within 10 minutes drive (3 miles by foot/bike) in Long Stratton or Pulham Market, or a little further in the characterful market town of Harleston. The Dairy can also be used as a base to visit the historic City of Norwich, the Waveney Valley, the Norfolk Broads, and the Norfolk/Suffolk Coast including the seal-colony at Horsey, and Southwold. In addition, for those interested in WW2 history there are several airfield museums nearby. You will need a car to get to us as the nearest railway stations are in Diss or Norwich (respectively 12 miles south, or north, away). No buses operate to Hardwick village either. However, because there is very little traffic, driving, cycling or walking the local roads is easy and stress-free. There is an abundance of public footpaths and walking routes from your door step, which we can offer maps or advice about. Bed linen is always provided for the king-size bed in the bedroom. Bedding and bed linen is also provided for the double sofa-bed in the living room for reservations of 3 or more people. For reservations of 2 people where you wish to use both beds and require the provision bedding and bed linen, please advise and arrange this in advance of arrival and this can be provided at a small additonal charge to cover laundering.
