The big green guest apartment

A beautiful apartment on the top floor of a large house that was build during the time of the Arts and Crafts Movement in the 19th century. It is surrounded by old trees in Hermsdorf, a neighborhood of Berlin that is only 25 Minutes away from Friedrichsstrasse, the Brandenburg Gate and the city center of Berlin. The stylish 830 sq feet big apartment includes a large and sunny living room with floor to ceiling windows, a fully equipped kitchen, two separate bedrooms, a bathroom with a bathtub. You will be close to nature but still within easy reach of the city life. A perfect place to relax after a busy day filled with sightseeing, shopping, visits to the many art galleries and museums you find in Berlin. It is perfect for families with kids, one of the bedrooms sleeps up to four – in cosy bunk beds build like little hideways – each with their own little wall mounted reading light. The large bedroom additionally has a built in twin bed with a size of 160x200cm where two adults can comfortably sleep. The second bedroom has a twin size master bed from which you look through a large roof top window right into the starry sky and beautiful old cedar trees – we call it the romantic bedroom due to its lovely William Morris wallpaper and the beautiful view. For a relaxed stay at the guest apartment you will find a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, dishwasher, large built in oven, a fridge/freezer combination, a water maker to produce your own carbonated drinking water as well as a nespresso machine with caps and also a more traditional espresso maker and French press. We also provide an assortment of various teas and complementary cereals for your breakfast. There is free Wifi and a small stereo for you to use when you are home enjoying the beautiful views out of the large windows with a nice glass of wine that you might have bought in one of the many small specialty grocery stores that are in easy walking distance to the apartment around Fellbacher Platz. Or you talk a relaxing bath with one of our complementary bath salts before you head out to one of the many restaurants in walking distance for a nice dinner. The guest apartment sleeps up to four adults and two children (two twin size beds, one bunk bed consisting of two single beds and one sleeping couch in the living room) or two adults and up to four children. It is best suited for a relaxed family vacation. We do provide a crib (made by Hauck) with a baby mattress as well as a high chair if needed. There is also a wide selection of travel books, childrens books and board games for you to use during your stay. In case you need it – there is also an ironing board and iron and of course a hair dryer in the bathroom. You enter the guest apartment through a separate entrance on the third floor. You can reach us easily during your stay either by ringing the bell at the downstairs apartment or sending as an message through the Airbnb Plattform. The guest apartment is very close to the S-Bahnhof Hermsdorf (three minute leisurely walk) which connects you via the S1 train line directly to the city center (Bahnhof Friedrichsstraße) in less than 25 Minutes. The S1 runs every 10 Minutes – so no need to plan very much ahead which train to catch. But we also recommend you spend some time in the beautiful neighborhood around the guest apartment. It consist of many large old villas, nestled between old leafy trees on cobblestone streets. Around Fellbacher Platz you will find a number of nice restaurants, grocery stores, a large organic food stores, still a brick and mortar book store to browse at, as well as some small specialty shops that invite you to come in and explore. Close by is also a recreational area called Tegeler Fließ where you can take a walk or jog along some water, watching the water buffalos who spend there summer there (in the winter the go back into the Berlin Zoo). There is also a lake with a sandy beach and beach café called Strandbad Lübars – a favourite spot for children and families to spend a summer day sliding down the water slide into the lake. If you feel like you need to bounce a basketball or play some soccer there is a public court in addition to a large childrens play area about a block from the guest apartment. You can also talk a long walk in the woods called Tegeler Forst – you reach it in about ten minutes by foot from the apartment. Restaurants near by There are quite a few small lovely Cafes in walking distances – our favourite is Café Zeitgeist (Website hidden by Airbnb) who serve delicious breakfast, lunch and homemade cakes. It is about 2 Minutes away from the guest apartment. Another option for a nice brunch is a small place called “Der Tafelfürst” (Website hidden by Airbnb) There is also a very famous Gelateria Eiscafe Faldon just a few minutes more away – and always with a crowd. If you like delicious sushi you will find it at “Der Gaideck” (Website hidden by Airbnb) – it is a quirky restaurant with delicious fish and sushi – you can also order take out if you rather eat at the guest apartment. There are a couple nice Italian restaurants in walking distance as well – our recommendation for lunch is Anna et Angelo – it is delicious and you are lucky if you get a free table. For evenings we recommend either Ristorante Belcanto – nice neighborhood place for pizza and pasta, relaxed atmosphere (Website hidden by Airbnb) or you go to Ristorante de Mastrangelo (Website hidden by Airbnb) also always a good choice. If you want to have nice candelight dinner with good food we recommend the restaurant “Die Reblaus” which is also in easy walking distance at Wachsmuthstraße 19. By Car: Autobahn A 111, take Exit Hermsdorf (from there only a couple of minutes by car) S-Bahn: Stopp Hermsdorf and then about 300 meter to walk to the apartment Airport: Tegel Airport (TXL) is about 10-15 by cab There is free street parking close by No loud music after 10pm No Smoking, no open fire like candles etc. No pets No Parties Accommodation tax in Berlin: In Berlin an accommodation state tax of 5% is charged on accommodation expenses. This tax is already included in the stated overnight price. The accommodation expenses are accordingly lower. Unfortunately, we have charge for accommodation plus tax.
