This bedroom is spacious enough to add two air mattresses if parents want to share the room with their children. There is plenty of secure parking on the property, and a large landscaped garden with a pool and an outdoor picnic table area with a Weber braai. Perfect for families and travelling pets by special arrangement. Ross's lovely mother is a Greyton local, and is resident on the property in her own separate space in the west wing of the house. She will make you feel welcome and give you any village info you ask for, and then respect your privacy. Greyton is often called the most beautiful village in South Africa and is renowned for its country lifestyle. Many artists and people wanting a slower pace of life have settled in the village, but it comes alive on weekends with a not-to-be-missed Farmer's Market featuring local and artisanal produce, arts and crafts, regular classical and jazz concerts, and good food at the many owner-run restaurants. The area is fantastic for outdoor pursuits, and is particularly popular for mountain biking, hiking, trail running and horse-riding. Frequent sporting, arts and culture events make Greyton a wonderful place to plan or undertake spontaneous travel. Come and check it out! There is plenty of secure parking on the property. Nearly everything around Greyton is in walking distance, and we are within 5 minutes walk of the main restaurants, and 10 minutes from the Saturday Morning Market. We recommend parking your car when you arrive and joining the slow lifestyle for your stay. Greyton's backstreets are a mix of tar and gravel, and are generally of an easy gradient, so if you're keen on cycling around down or bringing bikes for the kids, we encourage you to do so! We can offer space in the garage on the property to stash bikes safely. Please note: There is no cover on the pool or the small "leiwater" irrigation dam. Children who are not water-safe thus need to be directly supervised if doors are left open or when playing in the garden. The upstairs bedroom floor does creak a lot when moving around - we advise against putting those who need to get up a lot at night or rise very early upstairs! The upstairs deck is not considered safe for children, and does have some loose and aging boards. Please watch your step; this is one of our favourite spaces, but use at your own risk. Two sweet dogs and two cats live on the property, but they do not go into the guest wing. We try to keep Oak Lodge as ‘green’ as possible, so please assist us in saving power and water wherever we can. This includes switching off lights and heaters when out of the room, and using water sparingly.
