Country Cottage in pretty Peak District village

Christmas Cottage is a quaint, early 19th century, mill workers cottage situated in the beautiful village of Clifton on the edge of the Peak District. The accomodation is generous for 2 people and is arranged over 3 floors which retain many period features including beamed ceilings, quarry tiled floors and original fireplaces. Tastefully decorated in a contemporary style it is an ideal retreat for a romantic break, walking holiday, sightseeing or for relaxing and getting away from it all. Christmas Cottage may be unsuitable for those with mobility issues as there are two sets of short but steep stairs. The stairs are in keeping with the cottage’s period style but some people may find them challenging. Our guests have full and exclusive use of the entire cottage and garden. The terraced cottage is accessed from a small front garden which enjoys the sun throughout most of the day, as do most of the rooms. The village pub is 2 doors away and serves excellent food with a warm welcome for dogs and their humans. I usually email details regarding the key etc. once you have made a booking but live close by so am happy to meet any guests who prefer to be met in person. Clifton is a quiet, pretty village which is highly sought after and has a thriving village community and pub. There is a cricket club, primary school and playground. It is easy to walk into Ashbourne which has lots of nice places to eat and drink as well as lots of lovely independent shops and antique shops. Feedback from our guests often mentions how conveniently located the cottage is for walks, sightseeing in the Peak District and local amenities. There are lovely walks from the doorstep, along the river or via the lanes to other local villages and the historical Georgian market town of Ashbourne is about half a mile away along an easy path to it's excellent shops and facilities. A short, scenic car or bike ride will take you to all the local attractions including Dovedale, Carsington Water, Alton Towers, Sudbury Hall, the Tissington Trail and Kedleston Hall. Please note that although we welcome pets the house is not designed with them in mind. For example, the garden has a low fence around it which would mean that you would need to keep an eye on your dog to ensure it doesn’t jump out. We prefer pets to stay on the ground floor and do not allow pets on the top floor. There are lots of lovely walks from the cottage itself and we supply 3 food/ water bowls.
