Idyllically located on the banks of Rum Bridge Fisheries' Moat pleasure fishing lake, this large insulated glamping pod is simply furnished with a Kingsize bed, table and chairs and outdoor seating, and equipped with a 6 amp metered electrical supply, panel heater, lighting and three-pin and USB sockets. Ideal for a couple or family with one-two small children seeking to recharge the batteries in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. This comfortable, intimate space provides the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern city life: an oasis of calm and all-too-rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Be warned, though. Peace comes at a price. Rum Bridge is ‘offgrid’: the pod’s electricity supply is limited to solar lighting and device-charging, and is thus governed by the notoriously capricious English weather. So don’t be surprised to be issued with LED lamps in the heart of winter. All guests have access to hot showers, flush toilets, and dedicated washing-up area with hot and cold water. A range of options and extras is also available, enabling you to shape your break to suit your interests, preferences and budget. The onsite shop is staffed seven days a week, from 8am - 6pm. Carol's Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and evening meals, and offers hot and cold snacks throughout the day. In the interests of security, the main gates are locked during the night, but guests will receive the entrance code, enabling you to come and go as you please. The hosts live onsite, and are available around the clock in case of emergency. Nestling in the midst of the tranquil Suffolk countryside, just a short hop from historic Bury St Edmunds and the world renowned university city of Cambridge, the medieval wool town of Clare boasts a rich and diverse history; and a host of attractions and distractions which belie its diminutive size - including a monthly artisan market, galleries, antique shops, a golf course, cafes, pubs and restaurants. At its heart: Clare Castle Country Park; home to the remains of a 13th Century stone castle keep set on a 70ft-high motte commanding panoramic views of the town. Circumscribed by the meandering, reed fringed River Stour, and providing a glorious setting for a picnic or a preprandial stroll, the park is also the site of the original Clare Railway Station, in whose 1865 bookings hall you’ll find the unique Platform One cafe, which offers mouthwatering home cooked meals and snacks throughout the day. Of similar historic significance, the nearby Clare Priory dates back to 1248, making it one of the oldest religious houses in England; and the Ancient House Museum, located off the bustling market square, offers fascinating insights into the 2,000-year history of what is Suffolk's smallest town. Foodies, too, will be spoilt for choice, thanks to a wealth of bistros, restaurants, takeaways, traditional and gastro pubs. And walkers will delight in the area’s many circular walks and the town trail, which take in architecture from almost every period in history, and demonstrate why Clare was recently awarded the much coveted ‘Walkers Are Welcome’ status.
