The Vicarage Annexe is a beautiful, one double-bedroom facility situated at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. The building was originally built as a prayer and study room for the Vicarage. This is now a self-contained living area with en-suite facilities. The Annexe is located in the picturesque village of Carlton-in-Cleveland, which is in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and this is an ideal location for a couple who enjoy the countryside for relaxing, sightseeing, walking or cycling. Overview The Old Vicarage in Carlton has a lot of history. The Vicarage Annexe was originally added (joined) to the Georgian period Vicarage as a prayer and reading room. The Main House was used as a war-time Officers Mess, in support of the WW2 Northern Command H.Q. at the local Busby Hall. The cellar of the Vicarage was also used in WW2 as a Bomb Shelter. At one point the main house was also acting as an Ale House, supplying beer for the miners working on the banks. This is a great location for an individual or couple to get a short-break from it all, or as a lovely base to tour the wonderful North Yorkshire Moors National Park. You may also like to use this as a nice mid-week place to stay if you are in the area for work, or if you are visiting relatives. The Annexe is separated from the main house with a locked, double door, so your stay will be as quiet and relaxing as possible. There is plenty of space and seating outside if the weather is nice enough to enjoy a drink in the garden. The local pub has a lovely beer garden too if would like a more social setting. The Bedroom The bedroom has a comfortable double bed. The room is private, warm and cosy with en-suite facilities. The En-Suite This a clean and modern shower room with sink and toilet. The room is heated with a large towel rail. Shutters on the window give this room added privacy. The Kitchen / Dining Area The modern kitchen as all the facilities you would expect including; a Smeg microwave, Smeg oven, toaster, sink, fridge and freezer. There is room on the table to seat 4 people. All cooking equipment, cutlery, glasses and plates are provided. This area is open plan so its ideal for socialising when cooking and eating. The Living Area This is a comfortable area for relaxing, reading or watching TV. There is a well stocked book case with a mix of board games. The TV is has a modern 4KHD 52" Screen and it is connected to Netflix and Amazon Prime. The Garden The Vicarage has a large shared garden with the Annexe. We have a family at the Vicarage, so there may be other people in the garden however you are welcome to use it anytime. Outdoor seating and BBQ equipment is available on request. There are a couple of steps up to the Annexe door which would not be ideal for a Wheel chair. We are generally available if required to meet you on arrival and give you advice on the facility and local area. We have lived in the area for many years, so have some great local knowledge and we would be delighted to help you with advice that would help you to enjoy your stay. There will also be an information pack in the room, with lots of useful information. For those wanting a more tranquil and relaxing time, the Annexe is a perfect little hide-away for a rest. The local village pub is fantastic place for a quiet night out and there are lots of other great restaurants locally that we would recommend.
