The Farmhouse nestles in the valley of the Lys in the village of Delettes. If you thought Northern France was flat think again! Our nearest city is St Omer. The centre is lovely with cobbled streets, good restaurants and vibrant Saturday market. There are museums covering everything from WWII (La Coupole rocket museum and Atlantic Wall museums on the coast) to the 100 Years War - Henry V at Agincourt (20 minutes) and the Western Front (Ypres to the Somme - 45/60minutes). Industrial museums, period museums, and Chateaux are also present plus Montrieul-Sur-Mer (Les Miserables fame) and the old walled town of Boulogne. Our local area goes seriously "up" as you go up the side of our valley with local walks and cycle paths. We have a collection of maps for local walks of varying lengths as well as a collection of more regional ones. There are about 70 in total of varying lengths and difficulty. You need a car but there is a taxi service that can be used by pre-booking. It is good cycling country if you want to bring your own. There is lake fishing available (please ask) and numerous golf courses that are easily accessible including those on the coast at Le Touquet, Wimereux, Hardelot, and locally St Omer. There are theme parks on the coast and one for younger children at Dennebrouck 10 minutes down the road. The countryside between us and the coast has hills rolling down into valleys with trout streams. The Opal coast from Calais to Boulogne and onto Le Touquet is lovely to drive along with sandy beaches, with plenty of walks, small villages and seaside towns. If you are staying on a weekend you can often stay as late as you like up to a Sunday evening or on other days if we do not have an immediate follow on booking. This is by special arrangement so please ask first. The price listed is for 8 persons. There is an additional price per night of £22 /€25 for extra guests that will automatically be calculated in your reservation request. We can exceptionally accept up to 12 guests depending on the mix of adults and children. Please ask first.
