Tranquil Peak District Shepherd Hut - Hen Cloud
A place to truly savour - one mile off the beaten track, this charming Shepherds hut is positioned to take full advantage of the stunning and far reaching views, taking in the 3 counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. This individually designed space is truly relaxing, offering luxurious modern amenity in a small and perfectly formed heritage space not usually associated with a full size shower, flushing toilet, log burner and fully equipped kitchen. Hen Cloud shepherd hut is accessed via 2 oak steps up to the raised platform and the outside dining area. From here you enter the hut via full height double glazed French doors. Inside to the right is the dining and seating area which can comfortably seat up to four. At night, collapse this table and pull down the king size wall bed to discover your sleeping area and another window from which to enjoy the view. The fully equipped kitchen gives you the option to do as much or as little catering as you wish with a small fridge, gas oven and hob enabling you to create most dishes. Alternatively, you can contact us if you would like food parcels or restaurant recommendations - you are on holiday after all! Last and by no means least, the all important ensuite containing a full size power shower, flushing toilet, heated towel rail and even a shaving point. A unique space from which to savour the charms of Whitelee Farm and the Peak District. The hut is entirely yours, set in its own space, within 350 acres of glorious Cheshire Peak farmland. Offering a diverse landscape, criss crossed with public footpaths, the farm borders the River Dane - one of the fastest rising and falling rivers in the UK; open pastureland grazed by cattle and sheep for much of the year; and a significant area of protected ancient woodland. We are very proud to have been one of the farms involved in the Dane Valley Woodlands project; an important conservation project involving active management plans for woodland and one which has seen us plant over 3,500 indigenous species trees. In conjunction with the footpaths across the farm, it also sits on the boundary of the newly established Peak District Boundary Walk which covers the 190 mile circumference of this diverse and beautiful countryside. Divided into 20 walks, each walk is circa 10 miles in length and we are on route 17 which can be picked up by the River Dane. Of note, we also have another Shepherds hut in this field - Dane Valley Shepherd Hut at Whitelee Farm, Wincle which also sleeps 2 and as such we can accommodate groups of 4 adults if required when booked together. In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the hard but appropriate decision not to continue with personally greeting guests upon arrival. Our commitment to your stay is: Messaging service to help with planning your stay A digital guest book available to download, print or use off line Available for the duration of your stay on the phone as needed We don't live on the farm but are close by and are frequently around the farm. Wincle is a thriving community with a population density of just 0.008 per hectare versus a 2.5 average across the rest of the UK. The landscape is characterised mainly by farming activity with a number of small businesses attracting locals and tourists alike. With a brewery, fishing lake and 2 dining pubs in the vicinity there is plenty to experience in the immediate area on foot. Travel to the adjacent villages and you will discover an Ice cream farm, large wedding venue, outdoor pursuits and organised water sports to name but a few things. Whilst we are very rural there are a number of towns within 20 minutes by car that offer a diverse and distinctive character from Antique shopping in Leek to a renowned theatre and famous baths in Buxton. Looking further afield the cities of Manchester and Sheffield are within an hours drive; with Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham around one and a half hours. With Wincle being 6 miles from the nearest train, rail or taxi base, there is a reliance on private transport or foot to get around. Depending on the length of your stay and desire for walking there is plenty to keep you entertained in the immediate vicinity! Please note that due to its rural location mobile phone signal is extremely limited and in some cases non existent for some providers. Wifi calling may be possible depending on your provider. Wifi is what we would call 'rural wifi" ie not fibre! It is sufficient for email / web browsing / social streams but heavy data will need to be downloaded to your device in advance. There is another Shepherd Hut situated in the same field that can be jointly booked if you are looking for accommodation for 4 adults.
