Woodland Lodge
Relax and unwind at our woodland lodge. In a peaceful and secluded position, spacious cottage is set within the ancient woodland of Burrswood, with direct access to beautiful woodland walks. If the weather is ever against you during your stay, we have a table tennis table, plus a selection of DVDs and games to keep you occupied, and a large wood-burning stove to keep you cosy. The lodge has been recently refurbished and is an open plan layout. The bathroom has a large corner shower, and there is a fitted kitchen, lounge area with surround sound and a large mezzanine bedroom area with elevated views over the forest canopy. Facilities include: The Kitchen Within our kitchen facilities, we must point out that the oven is a combination microwave oven and grill, (NO LARGE OVEN). There is also a two-ring electric hob installed, and a toaster, kettle, espresso machine, fridge/freezer, French press coffee maker, plus plenty of glasses, cutlery, crockery etc. Living area: Wood-burning stove, table & chairs for 6 people (plus 2 extra fold-up chairs), high chair available upon request Bathroom: Mira electric shower, large basin, WC. Lounge: Seating comfortably for at least 6 people, DVD player, DVD collection, CD Player, Wi-Fi, Aux with iPhone 6 connection, sofa bed, table tennis table. Bedroom: Super King sized bed, two single beds (optional), double futon, travel cot. Outside: The Garden The Lodge benefits from its own garden area, which is for guests’ private use. Our main garden is separate from this, however this is a family home with children often in the main garden, which we ask you to be mindful of. There is a fire pit setup at the lower level of the Lodge garden. Please feel free to use this - there is fire lighting material by the wood burner and you can either forage for firewood in the woods, or there is a lot of dry wood in the wood store at the side of the building. Optional extras: BBQ & Pizza Oven If you have pre-booked the pizza oven this will be set up prior to your arrival. We supply enough pizza doughs for two per person and keep them in the fridge of the lodge for you to use whenever you want. We also supply basic ingredients for pizzas (passata and mozzarella cheese), wood and also instructions on how to light and cook the pizzas. Please give us 24 hours’ notice if you would like pizzas. The charcoal BBQ is free for you to use, you just need to supply your own charcoal. The track to the left-hand side of the drive as you come in will take you down to Woodland Lodge. There is enough space for a car to 3-point-turn down by the Lodge, however, if you have more than one vehicle feel free to park them all down there. When facing the front door of the Lodge there is a key lockbox to the right-hand side on the gable end (around the corner, just above the wood store) about 4ft up. You will have received the code prior to your arrival. The majority of the time we will either be at the main house or local. Located within easy walk of the local village offering pubs, local shop, bakery and post office. Also minutes from Chafford Park Farm wedding venue and Groombridge Place. Walking routes include the Weald Way and Forest Way which is also part of the National Cycle Network. As well as many local footpaths which you can use to navigate your way to some great local pubs. Groombridge is also on the Spa Valley Railway line, where you can ride steam and diesel trains to and from Royal Tunbridge Wells. The lodge is in a secluded location tucked away from the main house. It is an incredibly peaceful location with no neighbours other than the local wildlife yet within easy reach of Royal Tunbridge Wells. You are within the grounds of a family home, because of this we request any music or noise to be taken inside the lodge from 10 pm. Please note - *This is not a party venue where additional people can arrive unannounced.* Rubbish & Recycling There are three recycling boxes beside the right-hand side of the Lodge - one is for paper & card, one is for (rinsed) plastic, glass & metal, plus one extra. There is also a small food waste caddy under the kitchen sink. We ask our guests to recycle when they can. Please put the non-recyclable bin bags in the green dustbin at the top of the drive (please do not leave then outside the Lodge because animals will go through them and scatter rubbish everywhere!). Table Tennis The table is free for you to use and enjoy, and the balls and bats are kept in the cupboard underneath the kitchen sink. Our family We have a large family that love the outdoors, and we also have a large garden that needs constant maintenance - especially on weekends children will be playing and mowers mowing. If the odd child wanders down and says hello, I apologise in advance, but we will try to prevent this! We will try our best to prevent any disturbance at antisocial hours to our guests, & ask that you avoid outdoor noise after 10pm please.
