'Whistle Stop' is a cosy cottage with 5-star reviews! Off the beaten track, it nestles in a remote former railway halt near Bellingham. Explore Kielder (Dark Skies), Hadrian's Wall, National Park, Hexham (Abbey), Rothbury (Cragside), Alnwick (Castle). Ideal for walkers, cyclists, anglers, stargazers, romantic breaks. This gorgeous cottage is furnished to a high standard and fully self-contained, with everything you need for a perfect self-catering break. Leading from a small hallway is a cosy lounge the left, with log-burning multi-fuel stove in an inglenook fireplace, tiled floor, smart TV and DVD player. To the right is the main bedroom, and ahead is a dining room, with additional feature fireplace and log-burner. Beyond the dining room is a spacious, well-appointed kitchen (all modern appliances, including microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, integrated oven and separate hob, with extractor hood). To the left of the dining room is a small passage, leading to a bathroom with free-standing roll-top bath and over-bath electric shower. To the right of the kitchen is the second bedroom. The main bedroom has a superking-size (6'3) double bed (which converts to twins, if preferred); the other room has one single bed (6'3) plus a second single bed (6') with integral pull-out single below. Sleeping arrangements for 4 adults can therefore be comfortably accommodated; or 2 adults & 3 children (but 5 adults are not recommended). Beds have deluxe pocket-sprung mattresses, quilted duvets and duck feather & down pillows. Free and unlimited Superfast Fibre Broadband is provided. Bed linen, towels, bin liners, dishwasher & washing machine tablets, kitchen towel, toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, soap, shaver point and many extras are all supplied free of charge. Coal, kindling and logs are included. Outside, there’s a barbecue, garden seating and, by arrangement, secure storage for bikes. Redesmouth is a quiet, peaceful hamlet, two miles from Bellingham. The village is located at the confluence of two rivers, the Rede and the North Tyne. There are many excellent walking routes and public footpaths close by. The entire cottage is available to guests for the duration of the stay including use of front and rear gardens (but excluding the garage). Situated on a private road, there is parking for up to two cars. During COVID-19, your check-in will be self-managed, but a manual is provided to show you how to use all the appliances. We're also happy to offer recommendations for what to see and do in the area, where to eat and so on. We live close by, so further queries can be resolved promptly. Redesmouth is a small, quiet, remote hamlet, but only 2 miles from Bellingham, where you'll find a large Co-Op, plus newsagent, post office, bank, petrol station, chemist, butcher, baker, greengrocers, hardware store, Chinese takeaway and several pubs. Bellingham also has a surgery and library, as well as an interesting Heritage Centre, tea rooms and an 18-hole golf course (day visitors welcome). What's more, Redesmouth and Bellingham are based in the North Tyne Valley, close to Kielder Water. This whole area has been awarded 'European Dark Sky' status and there are two excellent observatories within about 15 miles of the cottage, perfect for star-gazing! Redesmouth is located in the wilds of Northumberland so there's no public transport to speak of - you will need a car or bike to get around! If you have an EV, we have a convenient charging point. We charge 18p per kWh. Please advise if you need this facility.
