The cottage has a room on the 2nd floor with beds which can be offered as a king-size double or twins and there is also a sofa bed. On the first floor is a double and a super king-size double (zip/link, can be twin on request), along with a bathroom and an additional basin and WC. Downstairs is a kitchen, dining room with open fire and a sitting room with open fire and on the lower ground floor is a games room with multi-use games table with pool and table tennis and dart board. There is also storage for bikes etc. in the cellar. Off road parking is available in a yard opposite the property, and there is a communal, front, riverside, grassed park with benches. Gilchrist House offers easy access to both the Dales and the Lakes national parks, making it a wonderful year-round base to explore the area. Note: There are 5 steep steps leading to one of the cottage entrances. Amenities: Gas central heating with open fires. Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD/radio, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - this pretty little town is set against a backdrop of some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Every Tuesday, the town's market place is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods whilst throughout the rest of the week the local businesses surrounding the market place thrive. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and the town also boasts an excellent public swimming pool. Three days a week, the Victoria Hall is transformed into a cinema, providing visitors with all the activities of a larger town. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway is also a huge draw and runs regular trips across some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country.
