Stylish cottage in the heart of Farnham
Nineteenth century Juniper Cottage has been sympathetically modernised to offer stylish and characterful open-plan living. The three-tiered garden is set dramatically against a cliff, with sweeping views from the top terrace over the Georgian market town of Farnham, just five minutes' walk away and packed with shops and restaurants. Farnham Castle and the Maltings Arts Centre are a short stroll, while Bourne Woods, Waverley Abbey, Frensham Ponds and the North Downs Way are easy day trips. The ground floor is open plan. Step from the lane into the living room, where there's a cosy, wood burning stove, large L-shaped sofa, wifi and a smart TV with Sonos soundbar. The adjacent dining area has a brand new wooden table with seating for six and an extension to seat more. Beyond is the well equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, range oven, washing machine, dishwasher, Belfast sink and plenty of clever storage. Essential supplies will be provided for guests. From the back door, there are steps up to the dramatically terraced garden. On the first level, ideal for breakfast in the sunshine, is a table and chairs, seating four. On the next level, there's a Weber BBQ and food preparation area. From here, illuminated by fairy lights, steep spiral stairs lead to the top terrace, one of the many highlights of this cottage, with table and chairs for six and extensive views over Farnham. In summer, this is a perfect sun trap and the best imaginable place for pre-dinner cocktails. Inside the cottage, a wooden staircase leads to the first floor. Here, there are two double bedrooms, sharing a luxurious, contemporary bathroom with rainforest shower. The main bedroom has a king-sized double bed and built in storage, while the second bedroom, overlooking the garden, has a double bed and further storage. Farnham is a thriving, authentic market town with many listed Georgian buildings, overlooked by a 12th century castle on the hill. The Maltings is a two minute walk from the cottage and houses an Art/Craft centre, cinema, theatre, coffee shop and pottery centre, with regular events and exhibitions. The North Downs Way and the Alice Holt Forest are nearby, while legendary movie location Bourne Woods, Birdworld, Jane Austen's House, Frensham Ponds and Guildford are easy day trips. Farnham itself is packed with mainstream and boutique shops, traditional pubs and independent restaurants. Trains to London Waterloo take less than 60 minutes from Farnham Station, which is within an easy walk from the cottage.
