This newly restored 1860's brick one-room school house with bedroom addition is situated 2 miles from the center of Putney, Vermont. Sleeps 4 in bedroom and living room pullout couch. This is a magical space, with exposed brick, a cathedral ceiling, and lots of glass, recently renovated with hardwood floors, granite counters, and a marble bathroom. It has radiant heat in the floor, a Viking stove for cooking, a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and a well equipped kitchen. It has a queen sized bed in the bedroom and a queen sized pull-out couch in the living room. Hiking, road and mountain biking, cross country skiing, dirt roads and trails for walking, a swimming hole, apple and blueberry orchards are all in close proximity. In good weather, guests have access to a clay tennis court and swimming pond with dock a few miles away. We also groom 10 miles of XC ski trails for classic skiing on our property nearby. Guests are welcome to use the trails conditions permitting. It is completely independent living. The owners are a few miles away if needed. It's important for our guests to know that the schoolhouse is located right on a road--as schoolhouses generally were! Behind you are miles of trails, fields and forest, but you will hear cars and see headlights. The bedroom is at the back of the building, removed from the road, and is both quiet and private. Directly out the back door are miles of trails and many acres of agricultural land. There is easy access to groomed cross-country skiing and mountain biking and a swimming hole around the corner. In good weather, guests have access to a clay tennis court and swimming pond with a dock a few miles away. We also groom 10 miles of XC ski trails for classic skiing on our property nearby. Guests are welcome to use the trails conditions permitting. The house has a radio and has a wireless Sonos sound system that allows music to be played from a MP3 device. There is a wood stove, but it may only be used by those with significant experience using one.
