Kildare Rural Getaway (Clane/Sallins area)

A very attractive and comfortable, extended gate-lodge set in almost 4 acres of gardens and woodland. The original gate-lodge dates from the late 1800s and features Italianate windows. Essentially, the original was duplicated and an attractive conservatory added, so the house is quite spread-out, making it perfect for groups who may have different needs. Surrounding the house are beautiful spaces for relaxing and quietly viewing nature. Watch for the herons, who drop in regularly to fish in the pond - these visible from conservatory. Down in the water-garden light the candles and relax to the sound of the waterfall. Enjoy the scent of evening - the lime trees may be in blossom. Walk down the wood (entrance beside the far gate) and enjoy the wonderful beech and chestnut trees. Guests have access to all parts of the house, except for one room which is kept for my personal effects. They are also welcome to enjoy the whole garden, which is extensive with lots of pleasant seating areas and walks. I will be on the end of a mobile phone at all times. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need help. Very quiet, residential neighbourhood. All houses quite separate with their own gardens. Neighbours are friendly, but they keep themselves to themselves. There is plenty of parking space. Public transport to local towns and Dublin is available from the nearby villages of Clane and Sallins. However, these villages are a half hour walk on rural roads with no footpaths, making a stay for guests without their own car unattractive. There is a good bus hourly bus service to Dublin from Clane - but this is the longer walk! There are trains to Dublin and around the country from Sallins. Staircase is steep and narrow, but only 11 steps
