Romantic Sussex eco lodge/retreat
A rare chance to go off grid, but with warmth and comfort. Our Straw eco lodge overlooks the tranquil lake. With all basics provided, it will allow you to truly get back amongst nature. Perfect for yoga, writing, meditation, peace and quiet! COVID PRECAUTIONS . The hut has had all Food and drink removed and bedding. You will need to bring your own pillows and duvet towels and food. A calm and relaxing space for two adults. Wonderful uninterrupted lakeside views to relax by and enjoy. Our eco lodge was hand built 7 years ago and is made from sustainable and reused materials such as clay, straw bales, recycled windows and even hand made alpaca felt insulation! A wood fired Rayburn keeps you warm and heats water, gas cooker and kitchen essentials, double bed, table and chairs, Victorian stone hotwater bottles for bedtime. There is also an outdoor area around the hut which is for guests use only and has a drinking water tap, picnic bench, fire pit, BBQ and compost loo. An incredible chance to get amongst nature and wildlife - perfect for studying a wide range of woodland and water birds (kingfishers, tree creepers, long tailed tits, nut hatches, woodpeckers). Guests should enter the camping field gateway during the summer and find directions to the lodge which will be open. You will need the gate code before arrival. Check in from 4pm, check out at 11am. Please call to let us know what time you are arriving so we can ensure we are in. There is access to the area immediately around the hut which has a fire-pit, pic nic bench and area to sit out in your own private space. We can leave you to yourselves or help you to enjoy the local area. We can offer cycle tours/bike hire, guided walks and fishing - please mention when booking. We are in a fantastic position between the South Downs, High Weald AONB, Pevensey Levels and Ashdown Forest. With five national trust properties, four castles, and miles of walking and biking this is a special area to explore. Trains to Polegate and Uckfield with taxi service, and Stonegate. Buses from Polegate can get you to Horam. Cycle from Polegate along the cuckoo trail to us in 45mins. We can also offer pick up/drop off with longer or group bookings. We can provide if asked, a simple breakfast greeting hamper with our eggs, bread, our marmalade, butter, milk and cereal. Tea and coffee is provided, and some seasonal veg may be available. Lighting is 12 volt and being off grid there is no 240v available in the cabin. A good hot shower cubicle is available in all but freezing periods, when there is lots of hot water for indoor washing instead . You will need to bring outdoor boots or wellies, indoor slippers (flip flops even better) and your own towels and bathrobe. We provide a freshly made bed and enough wood to keep the Rayburn going, additional wood for the fire pit / BBQ will need to be purchased.
