He was a surgeon with the Kentucky Militia in the War of 1812. He came to Urbana and fell in love with the area. After the war was over he came back and built this home for his wife and 8 children. I think Dr. Carter would be proud of how the building looks today. Centrally located in downtown Urbana with restaurants, antique shops, theatre, boutiques and salons within two blocks.
