Sunny suite in a neoclassical 1870 town house

The 1870 listed neoclassical town house lies in the heart of Ermoupolis. The entire second floor, saved for our guests, is a spacious and sunny suite with a spectacular view over the city and the Aegean sea. It consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room and a balcony. It is perfect for families, couples or a group of friends and everything is at a very short walking distance. The entrance of the house along with the central corridor and stairs are shared spaces with us, since it is an interconnected two-story house. We live on the first floor. Through the shared main corridor the steps lead up to the second floor which is the guest suite. The suite has its own private bathroom, balcony, living room and basic kitchen utilities (refrigerator, espresso machine, boiler, cups&glasses, tableware). There is also a second double bedroom that can be rented out if our guests are more than two people. You have the entire second floor at your own disposal! In order to stay authentic to the house's original architecture and style, we have kept everything as it was: the marble walls and balcony, the wooden floors, the big staircase, the high rising doors inside the house and of course the beautiful main entrance door with its decorative patterns made of iron. There is a unique historic aura to the house, entangled with the story of Ermoupoli itself. The rooms are very breezy and cool during the summer but you will find fans in every room nevertheless (a/c is not installed). The main shared entrance and corridor lead up to the suite which is located on the second floor. On the third floor is a big terrace with a fantastic view over the city and the sea. Perfect for morning or afternoon coffee and dinner. There is usually someone from the family on the first floor so we are more than happy to answer questions or give tips and guidance. We are very sociable so it's really up to our guests on how they wish to interact. In the spring I am around and happy to help out with foodie tips, urban activities or where to go swimming. In the summer it is my mother and/or father who are always happy to share stories of the house, the city and the beaches since they come to the island for over 30 years. The house is ideally located in the historical part of the city. Everything is at a very short walking distance. In 4 minutes you find yourself in the central Miaouli Square of Ermoupolis where you can find shops, cafes, restaurants, the food market with fresh local produce, the open air cinema, galleries and museums. The port is just 10 minutes away. The beautiful 1860's Apollo Theater that hosts theatrical and musical performances is an 8 minute walk away, as well as the Vaporia neighborhood where you can take a swim in crystal clear waters. The neighborhood is peaceful since the house is located on a quiet pedestrian street, made of stone and marble. In order to reach it you need to climb up some stairs from the closest accessible spot by car as well as when coming by foot from the square. Ermoupolis has quite a lot of stairs since it is build uphill, but this is also part of the beauty of the city! You can park your car nearby or take a taxi but everything is at a very short walking distance of max. 10 minutes. A 6 minute walk will get you to the central bus station if you feel like exploring other parts of the island. Local bus stops are very close by - at the central square (4 min. away). You will find information on bus timetables/departures on the desk in the living room of your suite as well as online. Please note that there is no kitchen in the rooms for the preparation of hot meals. There is however a fridge, coffee maker and utensils/plates for the preparation of cold meals. Check in time is flexible for the guests and for us, because the ships arrive in Syros at varying times. This means that our guests might arrive in the morning, afternoon or evening. Please note however, that if on the same day of your arrival another guest is leaving the house, check in time will be at 14:00 o clock so that we have time to prepare the rooms.
