Poppy cottage is a beautiful stone-built, end-terrace cottage situated right in the centre of Matlock Town in the Peak District. Situated next to Hall Leys Park and off the main road, the cottage is a quiet, relaxing place to stay for exploring the stunning Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. Large king size bedroom, cottage style kitchen and Lounge with wood burner. A two-minute walk takes you into the historic town of Matlock with an impressive array of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. About the accommodation The comfortable sitting room boasts a 49” smart TV with sky, cosy wood burner, sofa and small dining table and chairs. Upstairs the large main bedroom features a king size bed, oak wardrobes and drawers to provide plenty of storage space. Also the smaller second bedroom provides adult size bunk beds. On the ground floor a fully tiled bathroom features a full-size bath with shower over. The cottage style kitchen is fully equipped with large fridge-freezer, halogen hob and electric oven. Also there is a washer/dryer and microwave. All bed linens, towels and toiletries are provided for your stay. You will have exclusive use of the house but we live in nearby Belper so are only 20 minutes away if you need any help or advice. The popular Derbyshire town of Matlock and neighbouring Matlock Bath, have been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, Matlock offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House.
